I take a small amount of tincture of opium in the morning to control flow into
the bag...particularly after 2nd cup of coffee (I know! I know! But I just
gotta have it!)
Any folks here have the same problem with fatigue...and haow have you dealt
with it?
Thanks

My Doc told me it would be up to a year before I'm over it, and slowly I do
feel better. At the moment though I don't seem to get much out of sleep, I
wake feeling drained and tired, usually after 8 hours in bed, if I try to
take longer it's a fight and I end up feeling worse.
Then again, I'm a lot more active than I was before, I'm happier and I don't
rattle when I fall over !

I am having more and more problems in dealing with the fatigue. I had
my first ileo when I was 30, my last one was in '96, and I am now 42.
There are days that I am so tired and depressed I can barely get
dressed.
I have other health problems that compound or are compounded by the
ileo.
I think if I pass out at work one more time, I may get fired. I get
little or no help for ANY of several doctors that I am seeing. One even
suggested that I file for disability. Yup, that and a bottle of wine
would put me right out on the street at my age... -Deano

Yes, many of us qualify for disability. You can access the disability blue
book on the internet to see if you qualify. If you belong on disability by
all means investigate it. Being on disability does no mean that you cannot
work at all. You can still earn $700 per month.
A decision of that magnitude should be made in consultation with a doctor
you trust.

Thanks for the info, Pearl. Too bad none of it applies to me, here in
Canada. You know where they TELL us how good our health care system
is...
And DI is like finding chicken's teeth. I have a friend who was on
welfare and she got docked for the amount she was given to pay for
ostomy supplies!! And, as for MORE pills, no thanks. They would only
compound my problems. Thanks again. ;-Deano
Dean,
Do you take multi-vitamins with minerals? If not try that. If you do take
them make sure it is in a form which is broken down before it passes through
your ileo. Potasium is important, so you may also want to try eating a
banana once a day. Just make sure it is ripe! If I don't take my vitamins
I feel fatigued and can also feel depressed. I smoke also so I need more
Vitamin C. Right now I am taking K-marts 'Therapudic M' brand.
