Welcome to MS One to One

Generally one individual's personal "story" is featured in each issue along
with the person's photo. No glossy cover. Just real stories by people like
you.
-----------
APRIL ISSUE - Stacy Oberly

Stacy Oberly of Plainfield, Indiana, first experienced symptoms of MS in 1993.
Her story begins:

“I have lived with MS all my life. Well sort of, my mother got MS in her
early twenties after giving birth to my brother and I. We grew up watching her
health deteriorate but didn’t think too much of it because she was our mom no
matter how sick she got. Her younger sister had MS too and unfortunately she
was much worse than mom. .... I never was one to worry about getting MS
although I overheard many people say they felt sorry for me because I would
probably get MS too.”

She has a wonderful attitude. I found Stacy’s story very inspirational. You
will too.

(I invite you to submit your story. 2 pages are sufficient.
Info & guidelines will accompany your complimentary issue.
I would also need a recent full face photo which will be returned).

Here is the listing of questions I normally ask during a typical interview.
Feel free to use any of them as a guide. Once a story is complete, you can
e-mail it to me. I would also need a photo of the person being featured. As I
hope you know, I do try to keep the issues focused on possibility, hope and
positive attitude.

We simply don't print "downers."
=======
** WE DO NOT E-MAIL COPIES **

**(The following questions are intended only as a guide in helping to write a
story. Feel free to include any other information you feel should be included,
i.e.: marital status, number of children, hobbies, etc.) It is better to have
your story too long than too short.
I can always edit it down to fit it within the format.
Two pages seem to ideally fit our format.

(1) What symptoms were you experiencing that caused you to initially seek out
a neurologist?

(2) What year did you first experience symptoms and what year were you
actually diagnosed. How old were you then? How old now?

(3) To your knowledge did any of your ancestors ... or do any current family
members have MS?

(4) How did you feel emotionally when you were told "MS"?

(5) What was your line of work at the time?

(6) Do you work now? Doing what? Are you on SSDI? If on disability, how
do you occupy your time?

(7) What are your symptoms now?

(8) What medications do to take for MS?

(9) If someone came up to you today and said, "I've just been diagnosed with
MS!" - what would you tell that person?

(10) What "positive" relizations, if any, have you had about your life because
of your diagnosis?

(11) On a scale of one to ten, where would you gauge the quality of your life
today? (10 is tops - 1 is lowest) Can you explain why you picked the number
you did?

(12) Do you have a favorite slogan or motto you live with? What is it?

(13) What brings you the most happiness in your life today?

Please e-mail your story and postal mail a current
full face photograph of yourself to:
(Your photo will be returned)

P.S.: Yes, I too have MS. I was diagnosed in 1970 at age 27. I have lived
with MS for over half of my life. I went on disability in 1994 and soon
realized life without a purpose was no life at all. Hence, MS ONE TO ONE was
born and issues have been printed and distributed monthly since August, 1994.
We have mailed to all 50 states, all Canadian provinces and 45 other countries.
