Hi everyone --

I posted a couple of times here a while back and have been sort of lurking
since then...I have a (kind of) question -

I'm "perimenopausal" according to my doc, 43, married, no kids. In the last
couple months, I've noticed that one of my breasts is larger than the other.
Now, I know everybody is asymmetrical to some degree, but the difference has
become more noticeable recently, to the extent that I'm wondering if one is
growing or the other shrinking - any other peri women have experienced this?
I know the tissues start drying up around now, so it makes sense that I'd
noticed some changes - is it too much to hope that they'd dry up
symmetrically?

I've had a mammogram in the last year, and I'm scheduled for my annual
checkup shortly, so I'll be getting in checked out, but I was just
wondering. Thanks for any input.

Hi and welcome to asm! I've never had the problem you mention. Very puzzling.
My bet is that all is well, but glad you're checking it out. Keep us posted,ok?
I'm curious.

Are you *sure* it's a case of *shrinkage*, or could it be a
case of *unequal growth*?

In the last few years my boobs have grown larger - but one
seems larger than the other by about half a cup size. They
were always *unequal* but it was hardly noticable before,
but as they've grown a fair bit, it has become more noticeable.

I have. I've always had one breast larger than the other, but else
equal. Then one started drooping earlier this year (got "deflated"),
making them look even more lopsided. Now they've evened out again
("reinflated"). I'm your age and I just assumed these sort of changes
are general body changes due to age.

Yes, I'm having pretty much the same. I've always been lopsided, but it
seems (and I just noticed it a few days ago) that I'm more lopsided now
than ever before.

I am very lopsided now, but never paid attention enought to know if I
always was, or if it started as I started to droop. I am thinking that
when they didn't droop, the difference is size wasn't as noticable.

My jobs have been pretty mundane. I guess the most unusual, in the sense
of numbers of people who have done it, was a college summer job where I
spent the summer analyzing plutonium samples for impurities. (At Los
Alamos National Labs - my dad was an employee, and at that time employees'
kids got preferential treatment for summer jobs.)

One day I had the hottest knees in town, but that's another story...

I majored in elem. ed. w/ a concentration in Art. In life drawing classes
the male models - acc. to law - had to wear some sort of clothing (like a
Speedo swimsuit), but the females didn't. Go figure.

One model was very good - she could hold difficult poses (as in catching a
ball) for a long time. Another model fell asleep when doing reclining
poses. Another one - she was thin, but had no waist. Saw her again a few
months later - turned out she was pregnant (maybe 7 - 8 months by then).
Mystery solved.

Not way out of the ordinary, but on Easter morning I was hired to play the
soprano part of Handel's Messiah on my french horn with the pianist I work
with. I haven't been to a church in years, so it was kind of fun sitting
through a service. I also played last Christmas Eve at a different church.
Got paid $50 for playing a little bit! Several years ago I worked as an
"exotic" dancer for a few months. Now, that would be something REALLY
different - to work as an exotic dancer for an Easter service. (Think

No unusual jobs here, either. But your post reminded me that I did babysit
for the local funeral director & his wife's kids, while I was in HS. They
lived upstairs, above the funeral parlor, in a largish house. The kids were
all boys - ages 7 & under. If during the day, I had to keep them quiet (no
running footsteps above funeral going on downstairs); if at night, I tried
not to think too much about the downstairs part of the house... ;-)

All of our female models modeled nude, which kept me from applying for the
job - pure self-consciousness. It was relatively good money, so was sort of
tempting.

My Sophomore roomate was so funny: she'd look at drawings I brought back
after Drawing II (life drawing), & would always say: "Was she *really*
naked?" (No, I was able to see right through her clothes!<g>)

I keypunched election returns for the News Election Service during the
election in which Ronald Reagan whupped Jimmy Carter. As the night wore

What I don't understand is wearing a bra when you don't have to. If I

You could write it on a Post-it - all of those codes for º, £, ¼, é, etc.
are on a little Post-It taped to my desk, next to the keyboard. I'd never

When I was an A-cup, I wore a bra. It hurt to do PE without. Also, given
time, _anything_ will get dragged down by gravity, including A-cups, so
no more perky. My current B/C-cups can still look decent braless when
necessary because I've always worn a bra.

I've never worn a bra unless I had to. I wear one at work
because I'm, err, *perky*, especially when the weather is
parky <g>, and I don't want to embarrass the guys around
me too much. Didn't wear one when I was an A cup, rarely
wore one as a B cup, still don't wear one very often as
a D cup - and I still don't droop. As I say, I wear one to work,
take it off the minute I get home, only wear one at the
weekend if I'm wearing a low top that needs *cleavage*.

I hate wearing one when I'm driving - I tend to get my boobs
squashed by the seatbelt when I do.

I've always felt I had to. :-)

Firm skin?

You have cleavage?

See, my boobs sit far apart. Seatbelts are no problem. But I have no
cleavage, even with a C-cup.

When wearing a bra, I have very good cleavage - certainly
gets the attention of those who matter <g> (ie, hubby)

without a bra, the seat belt passes nicely through the centre.
With a bra it doesn't work so well :-(

I'm with Jette. I didn't wear a bra much when I was younger - A cup, now
in a C-D cup, I still only wear a bra when necessary - working out, hiking,
or "work" (for me, orchestra concerts). Some shirts I'll wear a bra with
outside the house, but inside no way! I don't notice much in the way of
sagging. Can't pass the pencil test anymore, though!
