Nadar's Raiders, consumer advocates and safety-from-products.

(Con't) What is that rule about not tearing off some sort of labeling
which a mattress has?

I can't imagine what is on the pwr-cord tag which is so bad. I HAVE
seen products with tags saying, "In Calif. this has been deemed as a
possible carcinogen." No other of the 48+ states has designated that;
and majority of our scientists being on the East Coast. This product
I'm imagining maybe being peach-pits LOL. I HAVE heard sassifras
(root, for tea, dug up when I was young) is linked to (oncologist
prob); and I heeded. I won't take sassafras tea.

Where do we see power cords or the like advertized, "green, and
absolutely safe for your health"? Nowhere. I bought a petrol
container (one gallon, for mower) which says green. It seals tight,
allowing fewer fumes out. So "better for the environment." Get a
life.

We have a populace who do NOT read Scientific American, do NOT read
Consumer Reports -- or whatever it is where you are, and spend plenty
of money on obsolescence-planned products <sp : >_

Green Party in US was founded by Ralph Nadar, and Nadar's Raiders. In
beginning they spawned in each state a PIRG, as in PennPIRG or O-PIRG
for Ohio. Public Interest Research Group. The Greens began here by
being consumer advocates and on safety-from-products ...... Later
building on that. It follows IMO that ppl should give a bit less time
to shopping, a lil' less time to earning, and more time to thinking
and analysing their planned purchases.

Etc. :) :)

I signed up for a long-distance dial-around recently. A glich occured
before the account became functional, and headaches happened in trying
to work it out. I decided to look up this company's ratings. (Primus
Inc.) *Poor!* . . . So now I am going to go to a different
company. I never thot to check the reviews of Primus. Was not
practicing what I preach.

No, I think power cords have lead in them.

California has a big list of carcinogens and things which cause birth
defects.

One thing on the list is testosterone, and another is acrylimide,
which is a chemical that is created by "frying, roasting, and baking"
things like potatoes.
Crystalline silica is also on the list, which is a fancy name for sand.

What of all that nonsense about encouraging us to be participators in
our healthcare decision-making? What a crock. Whenever we get our own
mind to inquire or be interractive, what you hear is, "Maybe you should
get another doctor if you don't trust me." Of course I can't since he
is a specialist and only comes to the clinic once a month. I had to
smoke a big fattie just to get my foot in the door since the clinic
takes only drug addicts, alcoholics and people just outta prison. The
clinic in the student hospital didn't even do a thing and the doctor
just found out that I have an inflamed liver. I lost a lot weight last
year so I'm probably in a stage where I have to get a liver transplant.
All that just cuz I received blood when I had a c-section 31 years ago.
Now I wish I had consumer protection then!
