Well..... I am just a wee bit stressed out at the moment...... several ISP's
that I use, seem to be having problems with their ftp servers!!!! not one to
give in easily..... I set up a new account with freeserve and got 15mb worth
of space to use straight away....... I guess I am just impatient!!

As for the website, I have been putting in one or 24 hours on it over the
past couple of days..... before Wednesday, I had only the first page
done!!!!!! So I have not got blood shot eyes.....a thick layer of dust on my
head from not moving for hours on end.......38 pages later....... and I have
the portfolio & personal description part of the site finished!!!! .....
still got a stack to do....... when you take a peek at it, you will see what
I mean..... a few more late nights yet me thinks!!!.....

I'm considering putting a few of my poems on....... I haven't done this yet
as I didn't really rate myself as a writer!!! I don't know.... I guess I
know where I stand with painting.... whats good and bad..... as far as my
own work is concerned anyhow!!! oh..... nearly forgot.....
www.toon2001.fsnet.co.uk any comments on how it can be improved would be
most appreciated....... it's the first proper website I have done!!!!

Thanks to Maddog as well......... it was your enquiry to if I had a site or
not that made me get my act together with it!!! cheers...... sometimes I
need a kick up the arse to get things done!!! for some reason, I always feel
to tired to do anything but watch TV....... but you managed to instill some
motivation in me..... god only knows how!!!

do you do people, like family portraits.. for I know many that would love an
oil painting of their families.. or pencil drawings.. but then.. your talent
is more advanced than this isn't it..
Have you been selling these, how are you selling them, and are you doing

Yeap....... just tried it again with netscrap....... 404 not found
error....... I had better re-write the index page explaining it will only
work under explorer until I find the problem!!! Bugger.......something had
to go wrong somewhereeh!!!

I have just taken a quick look at your site.....you have got further than I
have....... I still haven't figured out how to put music on my site....... I
had this idea of promoting some local bands on my site but I haven't figured
how to put mp3's on my site so they can be played back like you have done on
yours!!! I guess I will have to read up a little more on it in my HTML
bible...... the O'reily definitive guid to HTML........ about £20 from
amazon........ good value I thought!!! I find Dreamweaver is an excellent
bit of software for websites........ got a free copy from the Net Magazine
version 1.2 of Dreamweaver that is!!

Cool picture as well....... it reminds me of this illustrator I knew from
London..... he used to be amazing with an air brush...... I cannot get to
grips with them things!!! I just end up making a complete mess using them
things!!!! Well, I'm going to run a couple of tests through dreamweaver on
Netscape to try and figure where the problem is!!! I will let you know what
happens!! Till then, Ta Ta

Thank you................. a bit of a pause when trying to think of
something to say........... receiving compliments tends to leave me lost for
words......... painting drawing is just something I have always been able to
do...... Goerdie & The Bairn was the first proper painting I done........
before them I had never used oil paints......... I had mainly used pencil
before then...... if I remember right I painted that in 1991...... I
think!!!

That was something I was thinking about...... But before I get to that
stage........ I would like to get to grips with HTML and JAVA a bit
more........ at the moment I really only know the basics...... I have some
good ideas for website design but not the ability to put them into action
yet....... a bit more swatting up to be done yet me thinks!!!

No..... no one is ever to adavanced in art......there is always something
new you can learn........ life is just one big learning curve.......... If I
started to think I couldn't get better I would pack it in.............. as
far as professional artists go..... i am just a beginner.......most good
experienced professional artists are in their mid 40's onwards........ until
then..... I believe you are just an apprentice learning the basics of your
trade. Portraits are okay.....but baby's do get to me after awhile......it's
not that I have a dislike to kids........ it's just there isn't much to
draw....... they are all very much alike......... I guess that's why I like
wildlife illustration....... there's just so many different creatures out
there to paint, it would be impossible to get bored!!!!

> Have you been selling these, how are you selling them, and are you doing
> well, they really are very good you know

Yeah, I sell quite a few, normally, I like to work on commisions........
then I know I have a buyer for the painting or drawing..... the owl painting
was sold in a shop in the Metrocentre beside where I live....... they sold
it to a couple down London apparently........ that was some time back
that...... I always remember that one being sold as it was the first.... at
first it always feels strange when you let a painting go to someone.......I
don't know why...... I don't normally keep any of my work myself........ I
always find mistakes with them and that tends to do my head in!!!! so I only
have about 3 drawing's and one painting on the walls in my place............
and that's only because there would be too many spaces left on the wall!!!!

I am glade you like them anyway........ I'm hoping to keep adding to them as
time goes on...... now that I have the basics of a website built..... I can
keep adding to it.......... got a stack of pictures of Newcastle and
Gateshead which is not far away from where I live to go on yet.. Thanks
again though for your kind words.

Dear Artist:

I am new here so I don't know if my opinion means much yet, but I have to commend you for your
beautiful art work and I'll bet the rest of the group would concur with that.

Also, I noted you said it is still under construction, so I thought that I would help by saying that on
page : http://www.toon2001.fsnet.co.uk/oil%20paintings.htm I saw two typographical errors:

The first is: The Springer Spanial title should be changed to Springer Spaniel

and second : The Geordie & The Bairn title should be change to Gordie & The Barn.

Otherwise, it is a most excellent piece of work!

Hope to see you around here! - Eric.

I can't get past the title page. There's no hand that appears over
ENTER. I'm using the Explorer browser. Most of the time my browser
appears to work OK?
Can you provide a link that links directly past your frontpage?

Thanks, everything seems to work OK, now with that link below.
You have real talent there, I think your talent will be in demand

better themselves.. you said that well..

There are many places that can give you this knowledge on the Web. I can
provide a few links should you need
however your talent is in the creation of the painting.. I would fixate on
using that talent to get you ahead and focus on your success in this area..
it will come a time that everyone is taught Java and HTML.. it is a very
basic concept actually

As in all of life.. it's a learning and growing and evolving each and
everyday..
it is good you do not feel over qualified, and I wonder if Picasso thought
he was good or done learning
but in a sense you learn from your paintings for you are capturing the
essence of their movements, the soul behind their eyes and the sleekness of
their fur or the wave of their hair and the mood on their faces..
Babies are not all the same <grin> you will find this out the moment that
you hold your own the first time.. I am smiling for I have 4 little people
.. and once I would have said the same.. having your own put's you in touch
with their uniqueness actually.. and no baby looks alike again if you really
look at them with love in your eyes.. however.. animals are indeed amazing
and there are so many flavors of species along with the habitat changes from
natural to captive..
I also smiled.. cause you could hear the love in your words for your art..
tis a gift..

Many of the hospitals in my area, and larger public buildings help artists
sell paintings, I asked once and they said it was a club of sorts for
painters... but truly it is rare to see paintings with your capabilities..
you are indeed gifted. I wander around and look at the art for I have always
wished to have such a talent.. I don't though.. tis your gift.

What I find in loneliness or have found by talking to others in greater
depth.. is that loneliness strikes those who are gifted, or of a higher
intellegence.. look at the higher IQ and the people who have felt that they
never fit in so to say.. quite a few as so very intellegent and don't know
how to understand why other's can't see the total picture concept.. Like
you.. I am sure the picture you are painting is imprinted in your head
before you paint it.. yet your unawared of it actually being there.. it just
is.. and you take your vision and place it on the canvas.. it's sometimes
lonely because you look at things with depth.. and so many in this world
live in superficial and have no real depth..

You have achomplished the hardest part.. the first step.. now get your
current ones up.. price them.. and sell them.. and Duncun.. If you ever
think about family portrates from photos.. people fly artists all over the
globe to have their family rendered in oils..

Oil paints are funny things to work with...... you can get excellent detail
without worrying about making a mistake....... you just let it dry and
ppaint over it!!! You should give it a go sometime...... you only need to
start off with a few colours and a piece of canvas board..... all of which
are fairly cheap......... if you like it, you can then go for the more
expensive stuff. Me, I find it really relaxing when I'm painting or
drawing..... tend to do this when I have the TV on or a bit of music
painting. I tend to get wraped up in it and forget about any other troubles
you may have!!

The HTML bit isn't so bad, it's the JAVA that does me in!!! In the end, I
would like to be able to design good interactive websites to promote my
work.

I know what you mean...... when I come to having children myself, I will see
things in a new light. A healthy bit of variation is nice though..... a few
baby portraits followed by a couple of cats and dogs etc!!!
>

You are right in one sense that people are born with a talent....... but
also..... people can learn to paint to a high degree without being born with
the natural ability to paint.......... art is all mathamatics.... the old
masters.... the truly great painters had not only the mathamatical skills,
they also had the ability to see the smallest changes in detail. Take a
close look at someones face.... it's not just pinky peachy in colour......
it also has blues, greens and purples in it to....... once you start
painting, it is hard not to look at things in detail......... you then
realise how much you haven't seen before and how complicated and beautiful
the simplest things are!!

Before I start a painting, I generally have a vision in my head to how I
want the finished painting to be...........when I go into one of those
thought modes..... people end up checking my pulse or think I have totally
lost it!!! It's like walking into a room, being able to see that room with
different coloured walls, furniture and carpet and know whether your
decorating ideas will work or not before putting any paint on the walls!!!It
can be annoying as well though...... seeing a room in your house, knowing
what it could look like but not having the money or time to do it!!!

I'm hoping to get some of the photographs of Newcastle & Gateshead up and
onto the website in the next couple of days!!! I'll have to have a look
around to see if I have got any more copies of my work to put up as well!!!
I have one painting which is nearly finished, so hopefully that will not be
to long in getting on the site....... and yes I will keep you informed of
any developments with the website!!!! and thank you again for your words of
encouragement...... it is most appreciated!!!

Hi Duncan!

I've visited your site.

Excellent, both design and content.

Actually, you've managed to make it navigable without
using frames. (I am using IE, don't have any idea of
how it looks with NS). You may wish to add some midi
files, but this is subjective (and may slowen a bit
the download).

Your artwork is very very fine, I've browsed all
three sections. Oil paintings are my favorites by
now. What is the method you use to get the JPG
version?

Congratulations and best regards,
Raffaele (King)

Yeah....... I am trying my best to avoid using frames and stick to a design
which is simple and fast enough to download........ I will also be adding a
section in the future promoting local bands, so I will be adding either MP3
or Midi files to the site....... which ever works out to be easier!!!!

The JPG's are all scanned from photographs or direct from the drawings
themselfs...... depending on the size of them......I am having a few
problems with Netsape at the monet but I hope to have those resolved before
long........ a few design changes I think!!! Thanks again for visiting the
site and hopefully within the next few days, I should have quite a bit more
up there to have a look at..... pictures of Newcastle etc!!!
