A single candle breaks the silent darkness. She looks into the void,
her eyes slowly adjusting to the faint illumination. Could anyone
still dwell in this forgotten place? With her arm outstretched, the
candle thrust into the darkness, she strains to see who or what may
remain in this long forgotten time.
She takes a breath of the stale air and utters but a single audible
word...

Hello Donna! I just came back today having oiled the old seized up
Google account that had loyally been collecting the occasional spam
all along. It's nice to see a familiar name however I doubt this nook
on Usenet is about to leap back into life: like many others I used to
follow so avidly, its time has probably passed. It's probably more
productive to seek new avenues - surely Facebook and co. are the
modern home of the Intergendered. Any pointers to where it's all
happening would be welcome :)
The last vaguely real post here was from Dan McNay promoting her (or
his) book "It Knows You By No Other Name" which I duly read but
struggled my way through. Even though I was commuting by train at the
time and could read it on the journey, I laboured over it, set it
aside many times and really never got beyond 2/3 way through though I
read much of it twice. I only ever encountered one reference to
crossdressing, maybe I was not persistent enough!
My own female side has been largely subdued as I've endured a very
tough period in my life, including being out of work for an extended
period. Nikita only shines properly when she's in good spirit. Now she
needs to lose a lot of weight to fit her wardrobe and the extra years
have been particularly unkind.
Best wishes, Nikita
Hello Dreamspinner,
This was (is) my group. I created it some 12 years ago. We had a good
run for a while, but ultimately people moved on - even the spammers
stopped posting. :)
Therapy is not a bad thing - I have seen a therapist on and off for
years now. It's important, however, that your husband not be 'lead'
down a path. Some therapists (*some*, not all) wind up guiding people
to transition when that may not be the right option. In my opinion -
as a trans/genderqueer individual - is that there are as many ways to
be trans as there are transpeople. There is no one 'correct' path
other than that which allows you to be authentic and happy. Sometimes
- oftentimes - that involves compromise which at the outset one may
not want to entertain. I have to advise that one be a bit patient
(not easy) and seriously consider things.
Please feel free to read my (now quite old) website @
http://cydathria.com/ms_donna/main.html - it covers growing up and the
turning point in my life with all of this. I have continued my
writings on my blog @ http://wanderingaloud.wordpress.com/ which gets
periodic updates. Do check out the 'Pages' on the right as they will
help to explain my philosophy with respect to being trans in a
primarily binary world.
It would be nice to see life here again - but I'm not sure about it
becoming a reality. Do have a look over at http://www.myhusbandbetty.com/community/
where I have been known to hang out and write excessively rambling
posts when the spirit moves me. :) It's a good group with some very
smart people.
I wish the best for you both. :)
Regards,
Donna
