I've followed your ng here off and on for about a year. I'm curious now,
I can't place it as to just when, but I think at one time or another,
I've seen others here report that they believe that after using Valtrex,
Famvir, etc., they have experienced some hair loss. I think I definitely
notice this, and I'm wondering if it's just my imagination? Thanks in
advance.
What did your doctor say?

We are, each of us, angels with one wing, and
we can only fly by embracing one another.

Hi
No, it's probably not your imagination-- hair loss is a known possible side
effect of some of the meds. I think it's mostly Zovirax/Acyclovir and Valtrex
that sometimes has this effect. When one of our past responders here changed
from Valtrex to Famvir one of the things she noticed was the texture of her
hair improved almost immediately as I recall.
I noticed while on Acyclovir for suppression (I think the hair loss side effect
may be seen more if one is on suppessive therapy rather than episodic
therapy--so, using the meds constantly) that my hair was more *brittle* than
normal. Once I got off the meds (I was on suppression for 10 months at first
just to help my system more easily get use to the virus) the brittleness went
away. However, I've been steadily losing my hair for the past years, so I
didn't really notice any change in the speed with which I'm already losing it.
And one thing to keep in mind...
God only makes so many perfect heads, the rest are covered with hair. :-)
Hang in there

Cute Guy, and here I thought it was 'cause men's foreheads continue to grow!

I have never heard of hair loss as a side effect. I have been taking
Zovirax(acyclovir) off and on for three years. My hair is thick as ever.

Another related saying?
The more hair I lose, the more head I get.
