It's been quiet around here for the last while. I hope everyone is doing
well, and having a good weekend.

"If you're feeling down, or ill, always remember that there's somebody else
worse off than you."

People say this to make others feel better, but I always thought it was
rather mean-spirited. If you're, perhaps, sick and tired of feeling sick and
tired, this is NOT what you need to hear. WTF??? It's depressing and
discouraging, with a little stab of guilt thrown in. It's a horrible thing
to say to anyone, any time. Yeah, there always is somebody worse off than
you, but thinking of that certainly isn't going to make you feel any
freakin' better!!!!

And there's always a lot of people better off than you as well. :) I
guess I feel pretty lucky just being somewhere in between. I do hope
that everyone has a good weekend and a great upcoming holiday. I hope
you have a great life as well. I have a lot of friends literally
fighting for their lives right now, makes my little aches and pains seem
pretty insignificant, so I personally don't feel too sorry for myself.
That doesn't diminish the times that I felt I was the only one
suffering. So, if you are at one of those times in your life, it doesn't
hurt to think of yourself. We've all been there and probably will be
again. If on the other hand you are feeling on top of the world, enjoy
it, you probably deserve it. Make the best of your situation and be as
positive as you can be. I seem to be babbling so I should sign off for
now. WS, thanks for posting and I hope you have the best weekend you can
have and your feeling OK.

Sorry about that post if it made anyone think I was having health problems;
my intention was only to draw attention to the irony of trite little sayings
that are rarely thought out before spoken.

My weekend was great! ... successful open house at my on-premises winemaking
store, the snow storm we were supposed to get didn't happen (yet), I got a
great deal on a load of firewood and finally upgraded to NetObjects Fusion
11. The only unpleasant thing that happened was having to clean up the
remains of some rodent that Fraser devoured on my bedroom carpet. He won't
eat rodent liver, always leaves it behind. Most cats I know love raw liver,
but not this guy. However, he eats everything else: head, tail, feet, bones,
teeth and fu. As far as I know, he also won't eat adult rats, snakes,
lizards or weasels.

Here's a cute shot of my best buddy if anyone's interested:

We used to have a cat that would bring home snakes, rabbits, large rats
and other critters, some alive some dead. The strangest things he
brought home was two guinea pigs, both freshly deceased. Later that
afternoon we found our neighbors looking for their two pet guinea pigs,
they asked if we had seen any, of course we told them we hadn't. Never
found out why they were allowed to run free in the back yard. The
biggest thing he ever brought down was a kid on a bike that was
tormenting him. He got tired of running and turned and lunged at the
bike. He got his front legs caught in the spokes and sent the kid
flying. The cat broke a leg, the kid broke an arm. The kid never
bothered the cat again. I miss that cat, he lived to be between 18 and
19 years old.

A most excellent cat story, Dwight. I live in a two-cat household. They
are all unique in their own little ways. I miss all the cats that I ever
had the pleasure to serve, presently deceased, but returning eight more
times.

Had a good weekend. Ooh! Whats that in my jammies? Must have been a
crumb from the multi-grain crackers I ate in bed lastnight.
