Heart Surgery Recovery???

Hi I recently had open heart surgery to have a valve replaced, with a
mechanical one, and was wondering how long it would take for me to be
pain free, It has been 17 days since my operation and I am still
experiencing pain around the chest area, I also get sever headaches
with the pain, is it common to get headaches with the pain? When I take

the painkillers no pain or headaches, but the problem is I only have
enough painkillers to last me anohter week, is it possible for me to be

painfree and headache free by then? Also I tend to get some hot flushes

now and then, and quite sweaty when sleeping sometimes, is this common
with this type of surgery? Many thanks

Hi,
Did you have full open heart surgery? When I had my open heart
surgery for valve repair, the chest pain did not get manageable for at
least 4 weeks. Give it some time. Open heart surgery is a very
traumatic surgery on your body.

I had excruciating headaches after as well. When I was in the doctor's
office getting my coumadin levels checked they found out that I was
extremely anemic. It was the cause of the headaches. You might want
to check that out.

The night sweats could be ok, but I would talk to your cardiologist
about that. Night sweats could also be a sign of other things.

Hi Yes i had the full open heart surgery, u don't thnk the headaches
may be linked to the pain? I am also slightly anaemic, didn't realise
this could be causing the headaches.
