Newsgroup traffic as a whole has really decreased in the last number of years.
Many people have gone to Facebook, Yahoo groups and such. Some old groups
are still somewhat popular. If you are looking for binaries to download use
"Newsleecher" to search for files. Be warned that Virus, Trojans and such are still
very common
