PENNY TORRES/MAFU

Ashram in Ashland, Oregon is far more complicated than what the news
items report. Currently there are many longstanding members of this
group who are cutting their ties with Torres and leaving the group
altogether, and from all around the world. In short the group is in the
process of imploding.
Without getting into specifics, it appears that Penny Torres (aka Swami
Paramanada Saraswati Amaggi) has truly gone off the deep end in the
past few years. Recent videos and dvds of talks given by her reveal a
person of totally unsound mind. Rumours also abound of all kinds of
sexual and physical abuse occuring inside the ashram. Graphic tales of
marriages and relationships being destroyed by Torres personally are
also quite prevalent. It appears that the shooting incident was
precipitated by the abusive/psychotic behavior of Torres herself.
Interestingly it seems that it was at the apparent insistance of Torres
herself in not pursuing any formal charges that the woman was finally
released from jail.
Whatever what one makes of the claims of "channeling," etc, it is quite
sad to see all this unfolding, particularly the broken lives, because
the MAFU of the early 1990s had some interesting ideas and teachings.
Problems always begin when organizations (i.e. cults) are created
around the personalities who embody the idea/teachings.

I have not been there since 2000, at that time I knew I no longer
belonged.
It seemed then, there were lots of sex stuff going on and other stuff that
personally I chose not to be a part of.
None of my business; But, I do know, the way to Self-Realization is not
through my sex organs.

I was with the group form around 1987 I think until the early 93... prior
to the purchase of the Ashram / (both) when we were meeting monthly in
Pacifica / San Fransisco. The earlier days was definitely an opening for.
I loved the groups and the expanded wisdom. However, everything changed
after the purchse of the second Ashram Paramont Dharma. It then became
all about money so it seemed. The energy diffently shifted.
After Penny became a Swammi, I lost interst. I was not looking for a new
Swammi to follow, already been there.
I did stayed around off and on during the Mastery Programs, but after 93 I
was there only every few years... my last time in 2000 I have never been
back and have no interst.
I was with Mafu just after Penny had Andrew, in fact she was still nursing
him in Miami Florida.
I will always remember the earlier days when it was very expansive and
intersting to discover so many secrets... and Self Realizaitons.
Who knows what happens, but I have always heard it is always best to
study with Gurus in the early days because after they get older the wisdom
changes and the light becomes stagnat. Who knows what happened there.
I do send all of good thoughts of peace and joy to all who are there now,
perhaps it is simply the process of sending the baby birds off to fly on
their own and fin for their self. Smile.

come a time where the human part seems to get more press than the
illuminated part.
This I can understand becauase we each have two distintly differnent parts
of self. Our Human Side and our Illuminated side. We can never know for
sure if Mafu is nothing more than the Illuminated aspect of Penny the
human.
I belive the true test is, if you can grow and expande by the information,
someway apply it to self and become it. In that regard, we each are
self-responsible and make the choices to continue to participate or not.
I personally never cared for the human Penny, never had much respect for
her,as a person; did respect that she would take our money(lots of money)
and channel Mafu if you paid her.
Seems everyone has their price even illuminated teachers.
I must say, that of the two, Ramtha and Mafu, Ramtha's group has found a
way to draw on the wisdom of our world and integrate it into the daily
life.
What I noticed is, it is very easy to be so spiritual when you are put
away in an Ashram and be around people who are of like mind. But be
spiritual in the day to day world, when you must still perform and present
yourself to other humans who do not remember who they are, now that is the
test.
As far as abusive behavior... Mafu says LIKE draws LIKE. I remember
Penny calling the helpers at Gurumayi Chidvilasananda Ashram GOONS... she
never had any respect for other people on the path. Very Mean spirited to
people who were not in her personal click. And now, many of then seem to
be dieing... one by one. So much for Ascension.
Exactly how many have Illuminated by these teachings now?
