Can you tell me whether or not I should buy my daughter a Game Boy or the
new Game Boy Advance for Christmas. She is not photo sensitive as far as I
am aware - she watches WWF wrestling with all the strobe lights and had no
reaction - apparently - to her EEG flashing lights - although the letter I
have been sent said the pattern showed partial epilepsy ??
I cannot see the specialist until 4th December to ask him - I asked him
before if she could play the play station and he said yes but now if she has
had an abnormal eeg I don't know what to do.

Any advice please ???

It should not be a problem, if she has
partial seizures.

I would get her the game if she hasn't had any problems with other vidieo
games and ect. If you are still worried you might see if someone you know
has the game and let her play it and see how she reacts to it. I know myself
I have no trouble playing vidieo games.
good luck to you and your daughter,

Thanks again Michael - she has never had a problem with Playstation so I
think she should be OK.

While I have TN, not epilepsy, we often take the same medications. Recently I
was switched from 1200mg/ day of Tegretol to Trileptal. I had to increase the
dose of Trileptal up to 2100mg/day in order to gain some relief from the
neuralgia. What is the maximum dosage of this drug? Are any of you taking
this amount, and are you experiencing any side effects? I feel a little shaky
at times, but otherwise OK, although I can tell I'm taking medication.

Thanks for any information you can give me.

a lot of vidieo games. I haven't had a problem yet. I bet she will love the
game boy.

Trileptal is a cousin to Tegretol, when is switched my double vision
stopped. My doctor does not want to go over 1800mg of Trilpetal, I am
currently at 1350mg. The main side effect is drowsiness between 10 am
and 2 pm. The latest increase has spread my seizures apart from an
average of 6 days to around 13 days.

Dear Onyx,
one of my clients informed me a week ago that there was a new article published
about
Trileptal causing hyponatremia. If you up your dose you might slip into
psychosis by the mere fact that your sodium level gets far too low.
Many clients complain about such symptoms.

The best for you, and
Regards,
Katharina

Trileptal can gradually cause hyponatremia. There isn't much of anything in the
medical literature about hyponatremia and psychosis. It isn't possible to complain
about your psychosis because by definition the patient isn't aware of it.
Cheers,
Kent H.

Kent H.,

Just the day before yesterday I had a lady calling me, telling me a doctor had
given her AEDs against severe arthritic pain after borreliosis. She has never
been diagnosed as having epilepsy.
She plain told that doctor: "If you do not take me off that medication I will
no longer be able to find my way home". She definitely was realizing how she
slipped into depersonalization and dissociation.
The doctor did NOT change her meds.
So she changed her doc. Fullstop.
The next doc slowly discontinued the AED, so she would not be endangered by a
withdrawal seizure, and else put her off all medications.

This is only one lady describing how she realized the symptoms coming up, there
are so many others complaining about the same symptoms, and from health
facilities there has been correspondence with pharm firms to inform them about
these phenomena of hyponatremia.

I see a good reason for people being given AEDs as long as they help and make
them feel better.
As soon as a patient complains, there must be some change for that individual.
I would not wait until the individual cannot tell any more whether he/she has
symptoms of psychosis. Better take them serious before that happens. Why
suffering? for the sake of the share holders?
