Hi, I have endometriosis.I've had surgery several times.I'm going to
have surgery again, hysterectomy.I'm scared !! Wondering if this is the
best treatment.I can no longer deal with the pain, which brings me to
my question. Can endo cause low back pain, leg pain with numb tingling,
burning sensation?
I also have weakness throughout my body.I have had the numb-tingling
in my arms as well.I've had M.R.I. on lower back=negative.I'm having
memory problems and a constant need to urinate.Has anyone ells ever
had symptoms like these with endo?Any information would be welcomed!

Barbara, Wish I could offer more words of knowledge, but here is my
story. Had years of lower back pain with horrible achiness down both
legs. Went to physical therapy once because I thought I'd actually
injured myself at work. Pain comes and goes, but was worsening with
time. Infertile. SO... I had a laparoscopy, voila! ENDO. He lasered
away what he found, told my husband (while I was still in
anesthesia-land) that my endo usually includes back pain and pain with
intercourse and NO PAIN SINCE. Please note, my case was mild, no
other symptoms, and may not hinder my fertility. Good Luck, Evster

Barbara,
I just underwent a complete hysterectomy to treat endometriosis
(Oct.3/96) for the same reason as you. I could no longer take the pain. I
had constant lower back pain as well as abdominal pain. I also experienced
a frequent need to urinate. The doctors always told me it was a bladder
infection...or I drank too much and to cut back. It is too soon for me to
know if the operation was successful in relieving my pain as I am still
experiencing pain from the surgery. Have you had any laparoscopy's done?
My surgeon told me after the surgery that my ovaries had attached
themselves to the back of the peritoneum and were causing back pain. If
you have endometrial implants at that site that will also cause back pain.
Good luck in your surgery!

Wow. Tingling and numbness in the arms and leg. And memory problems,
too. I feel like I'm looking in the mirror. Had a car accident though,
and I'm not sure what's causing what.

Just curious everybody, but for the first month after my car accident
last year, I bled almost continuously. I had a break of two dry days,
and then it would start again. It was like I had my period four times
that month! Then, after that, I had severe low back pain every month
with my period, and I never had that before. I originally thought it
was caused by the accident (because I wasn't diagnosed with endo until
last month), but doesn't endo cause low back pain? My gyn. says that the
accident could have ruptured my ovarian cysts, causing great confusion to
my body as far as my hormones are concerned. But since my cysts were
chocolate cysts, doesn't that pose a danger of spreading the endo upon
rupture? I'm confused.

Also, this cycle I'm starting the BCP and will continue taking it for
three full cycles, without the 7-day sugar pills that allow you to get a
period. Is this unusual? What will this do to my body? What about my
migranes? Weight gain? Depression?

Please help.

THIS FASCINATES ME SO MUCH! I have been wanting to find out how many
people had been in car accidents.

I, too, had a car accident this past year. It has wreaked havoc with my
body--neck, shoulder, back. I finally went into physical therapy and it's
helping BUT I never had one iota of endo pain or indication of endo until
several months after this accident.

I kept wondering WHY NOW? What's changed?

HAS ANYONE ELSE BEEN IN ANY KIND OF ACCIDENT, particularly a CAR ACCIDENT?
I'm just curious.

My car accident was 6 years ago and caused debilitating pain in my back,
neck, and jaw. I'm partially disabled because of the injuries. About 3
years ago, I started having sciatic pain. It has now increased to the
point that I am on a lot of pain medication and still have very severe
pain. I thought it was related to the low back injuries, but numerous
specialists have been unable find the cause.

In May, I discovered by accident that my Endometriosis is flaring up
again. It's been 9 years since I had any problems (that I knew of). An
MRI of the low back revealed a small cyst on my ovary. Laparoscopy
showed extensive adhesions throughout the pelvic cavity and some lesions.
The current theory is that endometriosis is growing on or pushing against
the sciatic nerve. I'm currently undergoing tests to try to verify this.
My personal theory is that the severe and prolonged pain from the
injuries caused by the car accident had a significant detrimental effect
on my immune system, which then allowed the flare up of endometriosis.
But, of course, I have no way to prove this.

Hi Susan

I am very new to this Newsgroup and actually new to the whole idea of
using the internet. I am using my brother-in-laws computer and don't
check for messages often enough. I started checking this newsgroup
because I have adenomyosis (they think) which is like a sister to endo.
Alot of pain, etc. Already had three laps, a DNC and been on BCP
continuously since I was around 16 years of age. I am now 26 and
wondering what is my next step. My Gyno tells me that being on the pill
continuously for that amount of years is ok. Only if you can find the
right one. I can't tell you how many different BCP I've tried. One will
work for a while and then the pain will be back so I'll try another. I
have been seeing alot of Endo women talk about Lupron, MRI, etc. My Gyno
wants to try me on Danazol. But what I have been reading is not good. I
tried Depriprovera - NOT GOOD - REALLY BAD MOOD SWINGS, DEPRESSION.
Stopped right away.
I do not have much side effects from taking BCP continuously but depends
on the pill and the ratio of Progesterone and Estrigen. It's good to ask
your doctor to show you the chart of different BCP to see what you are
taking now and if you need to track it in the future. I am also on high
doses of special Calcium pills from a Natural Path but only take when I
feel pain coming.

It all started, my mother and I feel, from a fall I had in Grade 9 when I
fell off the lower bar of the uneven bars right onto my head. They
didn't do CAT scan so not sure if it joggled something. That's all we
have to go on. The pain got increasingly worse from then on. I have
also had two car accidents, which don't help. After all the pain
medication I took in the past I would like to be completely off, but
can't. It got so bad one time I had two shots of Demerol in one day.
WOW!! I am trying to get into natural medicines - not cheap by the way.
If I find something that works I'll post it.

Right now I suggest just be happy to not have your period, you might get
the odd spotting, and hopefully no pain!! Good luck!! If I can help in
anyway, please write to me @ mark_...@bctel.ca.

Hope I didn't yatter too much!!

Susan:

I too had a car accident, actually two of them. The first was in 1992 and
the second was in 1994 and I was seeing a chiropractor for ages. I'm
finally feeling alot better. I too get the numbness and many, many memory
problems. Sometimes when I'm driving I sort of blank out and sometimes I
get dizzy spells. I thought that maybe that was because of my fear of now
driving but now I wonder if it helped to cause the endo which is really
causing these problems.

I was in a relatively minor car accident -- it affected only my neck and
I had a few other bruises -- although it totaled my car --when I was 20
but I'm sure this has nothing to do with my endo. I had severe cramps
since I was 15.
