Greetings endo sisters.

I was wondering if anyone has heard of or has used Danazol in vaginal
suppository form. My doc here in Cleveland wants me to try it and has had much
success with its results on his patients.

There is absolutely NO information on this form of Danazol in the U.S. as the
only clinical trials come out of Japan in the early 90's. Also, this form of
Danazol must be made and is not readily available because of this....Hence,
only a couple of drug stores carry the capabilities of making it in Ohio and
I'm sure in other states.

My doc says that the usual effects of oral Danazol are NOT seen when using it
in suppository form, i.e. hair growth, deeper voice, acne etc. He states this
is because the Danazol when taken vaginally, stays within the pelvic region and
is not systemic as would be with the oral.

The only side effect that his patients have noticed is constipation.

I talked with the pharmacist who makes this Danazol and he stated that he knows
my doctor and thinks highly of him. He said that my doc is a specialist and is
very caring etc. He also stated that my doc's patients who have tried this
drug (pharacist knows all of them because this is the ONLY place that carries
it ) are very pleased with the results, some stating that this has been their
only relief from pain in 10 years.....

any info, comments, support and so on would be MUCH appreciated since I am
utterly FREAKING out at the lack of information available.

thank you so much
and take care

I live in england and I have heard that some places in the US Danazol is not
used anymore

I have always been worried about taking it and was given Danazol the first time
I had a lap,I never took it and investigated other methods of trying to help my
endo, ended up having a laser lap which helped, but I have never heard of the
suppository Danazol, sounds horrible to me,

My doctor told me the best way to surpress it is by putting 3 months of pill
packs together , I am doing that at the moment, it does the same thing as the
Danazol with out such harsh side effects. maybe this could be an option for
you??

I took Danazol while living in the U.K. and hated it. I assume the
suppository will go into the blood stream and cant imagine that taking it by
this method will reduce the horrible symptoms. I am definitely no medical
expert though. I have found the only way of avoiding the pain is surgery
and pregnancies. I was also told that all the methods I have been through
would 'cure' the endo and that it wouldn't come back. Ha Ha.LOL etc. I am
heading to Dr Cook from what I hear I may as well and stop wasting my time
with every other so called OBGYN. Sorry pms is making me since.

Good luck

You mean takine 3 pills from 3 packs per day? WOW!!!! Is that safe? Or am I
totally not understanding what you mean?

Also, I agree about Danazol NOT being the greates drug. Needless to say, My
suppositories are still in the fridge untouched since I got them 10 days ago.

Take care and thanks

Hey KP

thanks for the advice. I am having my second Lap this Jan 28th with possible
hyst, bowel resection, blah blah and blah.

I actually considered Dr. Cook for this surgery but unfortunately money wins
the battle this time, as I'm still paying off my last lap 14 mos ago. However,
I have new insurance now so this surg. shouldn't cost me a penny.

I can tell you that I've heard nothing but good stuff about Dr. Cook and I'm a
little saddened that I will not be going to him for this surgery. I can tell
you that should I need another surgery (esp., within a year and 1/2) I will be
going to Dr. Cook regardless of money.

good luck to you and please let me know how the surgery goes.

I guess someone is going to read this in an attempt to find the answer. Oral Danazol can be used vaginally but you need to check the ingredients and the behavior of the gel capsules.
Gel capsules should have dissolving time < 15 minutes, which is very easy to check, just drop one capsule in body temperature water and if it starts falling apart within minutes exposing the white powder that is it.
The content should not be anything special, those we use Danatrol contains: lactose, starch, talk, magnesium stearate, and capsule: gel, titanium dioxide, red and yellow iron oxide which is kind of standard for either vaginal or oral. There could be more like

cellulose, microcrystalline, silica, colloidal anhydrous, povidone K30, sodium laurilsulfate

which all you can ignore simply by talking to your practitioner or nearest pharmacists. The talk should include dosage, duration, way of doing that, as Danazol drains water you need some basic vaginal gel 2 times weekly for example. And you do need to drink more water than usual in order to prevent constipation.

With only a little cautious you can use it safely on your own.

For reference purposes:

Dosage 100/200 mg, therapy 6 months+3 months pause+3 months+3 months pause+3 months, or 12 months, or 24 months, or all the time

Therapy can be repeated.

You do need 6 months check up on liver even though the danger is almost non existing comparing to oral dosage.

You can be allergic to Danazol, albeit rarely, so take care on first few tablets.

And read all details that came with it, so you can recognize if you notice anything, but keep in mind that the bad effect is almost non existing if Danazol is taken vaginally.

You can expect reduced menstruation within 3-5 weeks and first sign of continuous relief within 2-3 months. Danazol is capable of cutting the menstruation flow completely.

You MUST NOT be pregnant or stay pregnant during Danazol so it is safe to start using it during a period.

Our personal story:

We went for Mirena after two operations. It worked but it seems that endo still found its way to intestines and Mirena was not effective after 4 years as it was initially. We did not stop using it. We added radon spa, you can find it all around the world, which probably had more potential than Mirena itself. We added CBD oil which is effective but it does not cover acute attacks and you need to take for some time to notice any effect, and it IS very expensive and not legit in many corner of the world.

On top of all this we decide to go for Danazol, keeping all of the above as well since it looks like that Danazol is excellent for rectal part where none of the above helped.

All together with some pain vomiting headaches that take 5-7 days a month we hope we will survive another 4 years without any major surgery.

We will let you know within 6 months if Danazol worked.
