I have spasmodic torticollis and recieve Botox injections every three months.
Along with this I take Neurontin 300 mg. 3X a day and Klonipan .01 mg. 4
times a day. Also a migraine medicine. I found out I have a collasped
vallecula in my throat. Is this related to the dystonia or the Botox. I'm to
see a throat specialist. To anyone going to recieve Botox I strongly
recommend it. The 200 units I recieve given in 30 injections along the muscle
making my head turn works. I try talking while he's injecting me so I don't
notice it much. I don't feel well sometimes up to 4 weeks after. I'll have a
sore neck, my neck turns more and I'll have worse headaches. But after all
this I'm able to walk straight, keep my head straight without the pain. The
pain does come back and I will go back to the doctor. By the way I'm seeing a
anesthesia doctor he's giving me the shots. My family doctor wants to cut
down on my medication. We will see what happens. I've been to two specialist
(neurologist) was not happy with them. Just remember everyone is different
and need different meds. This has been difficult for me and yes it has
changed my life. But I feel I've learned something from this. Notice people
how they react around you. You know who your friends are. Some of mine don't
know how to deal with it. But I've moved on. They haven't.

Do you really mean .01mg of Klonopin? I was only aware of two strengths of
this drug 0.5mg and 1mg.

I found Neurontin increased my neck jerking while reducing pain and after 600mg
a day made me fogged in my thinking. I also found the 100mg capsules worked
better than the 300mg did for some reason so stayed with them until I decided
Neurontin was not helping enough. As you say everyone is different. I no longer
respond to Botox. I was also taking Klonopin along with Neurontin for about
three months

I hope you find more effective help as being sick for a month after Botox,
which only lasts three months anyway, does not sound too good. It had the same
weakening effect on me when it worked, although my neck pain improved within a
week.

This is a lot of injection sites, my hat off to you. I got sick part way through
half that amount.I also was off work and not having to look after anything; in
this way I feel I was able to get control of things .I'm much better.I don't
suggest that you rely on the botox alone .If it is helping try using it as a
lever to get control of your condition.I learned from head snaps that the pain
made me watch for and control them from happening. This is me not you and I hope
that there is the possibility that you too can control it given the chance.I wish
you the best and hope you even better results in the future.Be determined to
succeed and you will!!

Neurontin is an anticonvulsant that is used for treating postherpetic neuralgia and for the treatment of seizers. There are a lot of non-approved uses for this drug. These include cocaine withdrawal, hiccups, alcohol withdrawal, hyperhidrosis, restless leg syndrome, diabetic neuropathy, headaches, fibromyalgia and hot flashes. Gabapentin or Neurontin belongs to the class of medicines called anti-epileptics. Gabapentin does not treat epilepsy and only acts to control seizures as long as the medicineis taken. This drug is available in both capsule and tablet form.
