I weighed in last week down to 250.5, weighed in today at 255. I don't know
what is going on. It shouldn't be water weight (although I'd be very happy
if it is). I haven't been eating bad and as a matter of fact I have been
eating at home instead of out. Any thoughts?

Janice:

I don't know what to say...are you using that same scale as last week?
That could be a problem. Are you weighing in at the same time of day? Is
there anything else like that that has changed? weigh in clothes?

Have you had anything with salt? I have experienced gains like that due
to salt & it could be your problem also. Go over your journal & look for
salt - all prepared foods can be guilty of this. If that is the problem,
you will probably lose it next week, unless you are one of those
unfortunates (like me) who don't. What I have found out is that when you
know you are going to be eating something salty, drink an extra couple
of glasses of water to flush it out - it does help. Hope this helps.

Might be you had something salty last night, like Chinese or other Asian
food ? Are you sure there 's nothing wrong with the scales ? (batteries?)
Did you do a lot of exercise the day before weigh-in ?

Nope. Well - apart from what the other guys said - salt, water, dodgy
scales. I hate weeks like that - inexplicable gains are the worst. I sure
hope yours vanishes as swifly as it appeared - in the meantime - chin up -
it's bound to be water or something if you've been that good :)

Too much salt, not enough water, not enough exercise, time of the month,
eating within points but too heavy on the fat/sweet stuff: perm any
three of the above!

Hang in there, drink the water, it'll soon go. And see all the posts on
how much you can fluctuate over a 24 hr period!

Same scale at Curves, same time of day, same clothes!! That's why I don't
understand it. My own scale showed a gain this week also but only 1/2 a
pound--that I can live with!!!

I don't know about the salt issue. I am starting to think that although I
thought I was drinking enough water I may not be.

I don't remember what I ate the night before weigh in so I don't know if it
had a lot of salt--it could have. The scale is one that doesn't use
batteries--it has weights, a doctor's scale--I weighed in just before
exercise like I always do!!

Thank you to everyone who has posted. I am going to weigh again today
before I exercise and see what the scale says. I'm hoping it's water--I
don't think I've been drinking enough, although that would suprise me. I
did weigh on my own scale and it only showed 1/2 pound gain so I'm hoping
that's more accurate (although I'd like that to be wrong too!!!!). Again,
thank you everyone for the advice and information!!!!

have you drank enough water? and look at the salt in what you ate, also have
you eaten anything you are mildly allergic to? There are some foods I am
moderately allergic to that cause temporary gain from fluid retention. Did
you increase exercise to cause muscle water holding? Good luck this week,
Lee

Not sure, Janice... maybe the scale was trippin' out on you? Or maybe it's
a TOM thing? At any rate, I'm sorry for your gain this week and hope it
goes byebye as quick as it came to you.

I believe it is a lot of water weight. I don't think I've been drinking
enough for the amount of exercise I've been doing and the fact that I had to
physically remove kids at work last week so that took some out of me!! I
also started drinking a protein powder that I thought was a meal replacement
and it turns out it is for building muscle--I don't know if that has had an
effect or not. I weighed today officially at Curves and was down 1 pound
from last week but up 2 pounds from the beginning of January however my
measurements were all the same except for my hips which went down .5 inch
and my body fat which went down .5 pound so I'm drinking more water today
and not fretting about the gain at this point!!!

Thanks for the luck!!!
