Dose anyone know how many points are in one bag of Orville Redenbacher Smart
Pop 94% fat free microwave popcorn? I bought the regular size box where there
are 3 bags to a box and the amounts are too confusing to figure out? Thanks in
advance!

I eat that brand all the time. I figure it to be 2pts per bag. If I'm
wrong, guys please correct me. It hasn't affected my weight loss at all
if I am. I just went and checked again to be sure. Still come up with
2pts per bag.

My count. My box contains packages that claim to make 14.5 cups of popcorn
per bag. I don't know if there are smaller bags out there.

I get 2 points if you allow yourself to count all of the fiber. If you only
count 4grams of fiber per serving (for a total of 8) then its 3 points. If
you only allow yourself to count 4 grams of total fiber for the whole bag
then its 4points for the bag (which is 2 servings), but I allow myself to
use more than 4 gr. of fiber when I am doubling servings). Therefore I
count it as 3 points. This method also agrees with what that pamplet you
get the first week says. It claims 5 cups of 94% fat free popcorn is 1
point. Since my bag is 14.5 cups that makes 3 points.

My book says that there are 2 points for 25g of microwave popcorn I think.
I make it - and then weigh out my portion, and give the rest to DH.

I have checked this several times and
always come up with 3 points for the
regular size bag and 2 points for the
snack size of Smart Pop. The regular
size is the one that has 3 to a package
and the snack size has 5 to a package.

I'm coming up with 3 points for a whole bag of Orville Redenbacher SmartPop
(movie theater butter flavor - 3 bags to a box). 1 bag is supposed to be 3
servings, but the measurements are kinda hard to figure for the popped. And I
don't know anyone who eats part of a bag and then puts it away for the next day!
If I am doing it right, it's 3 pts for the bag. Please correct me if I am wrong,
because I was planning to nosh on the whole bag tonite while watching TV :)

I still get 4 points for the regular size bag as follows...

per serving (2 in a bag) it says 130 calories, 2.4 grams of fat, and 7 grams
of fiber. So, with the new pointfinder that comes out to 2 points per
serving or 4 per bag (since only 4 grams of fiber are counted per serving).
When I was in Hawaii I found a popcorn that was only 2 points per bag, but
can't remember what it was. Have looked around since then, and this one is
the lowest I can find. So, I'm off to have my popcorn...

Be well,

I find the stats are different for popped popcorn or the unpopped. My
calories show only 15 per serving once the popcorn is popped, which do
we figure our points on?

When I run into things like this in figuring points, I go with the highest
count. Then there are other ways I over measure on something or don't count
a point here or there, so I figure it helps make up for those times.

I find the nutritional information on the microwave popcorn to be very
confusing. The brand I use says 120 calories per serving (3.5 cups
popped/2 tbsp unpopped) HOWEVER it also says 25 calories per cup
POPPED. It gives 2g fat for the unpopped but shows 0% of the 'daily
value' for the popped. Also it shows 5 grams of fiber for the
unpopped , but just gives the percent of the daily value (based on a
2000 calorie diet) for the final (popped) product.

I just gave up <G>

The WW Food companion gives the points value for 5 cups of reduced fat
(94% Fat Free) popcorn as 2 points. Since I happened to be bored one
day <g> and actually measured the amount of popped popcorn in a bag.
I got approximately 9 cups. Which give the points value as 2 points.

Until the nutritional information on the package become less
confusing, I'm going to stick with this 'quick and dirty' method of
calculating points.

BTW.... yes I am up 2.2 lbs this week. Had the munchies :(

I'm also easily confused by the nutritional information on popcorn
bags. The popcorn I usually get gives the information based on two
servings in a bag, so what I try to do is divide the whole bag into
two equal portions (using various 2-, 3-, and 4-cup containers I keep
in my office) and give half the popcorn away. Then I'm pretty sure
I've got what they call one serving!

I buy and eat almost every night.

Orville Redenbacker Light

whole bag = 4 points ( I measured it a couple of times and so did others in
my WW group meeting.

1 bag = 12 cups.

It is delightful and addicting.
