Hi everyone, I guess I am writing this a little late since you have already
given me the tips to staying on track. I was reading old posts and saw
introductions from new people and thought I should have done that.
Anyway my name is Brittany I am a stay at home Mom of 3, ages 12, 2 1/2 ,
and 6. And have never been so heavy in my life I am 5'3 and weigh 176 ( this
was a shock to me at my first meeting) my goal is to get to 130. I have done
good this week with soda, I drink 12 soda's a day ( Dr.Pepper) and now I am
down to 1 or 2 a day. I working on cutting them out all the way!!
Thanks for being here for support. I will write in tonight hopefully with a
weight loss.
My Prayers are with you all back east
Brittany

hi, brittany!

first, let me say that i put in a little time as a dr. pepper addict myself.
jack kerouac wrote a short novel named "pic" in which the title character
talks about dr. pepper, how it "sho' tastes good in folks' mouths." i'll
never forget that.the thing about dr.p (or mr. pibb, for you folks caught in
the distribution battle) is that the diet version tastes almost identical to
the straight up soda. anyway, i've spent a lot of time as an herbal tea guy
and now i'm a coffee head, cafe bustello quadruple espressos. as you know,
you can choose what you want and fit it into your points or find one
addiction to replace another, it's all up to you.

second, let me say that the plan is doable. just look at all the people
here. it's slow, but steady. and it's accompanied by something that is
worth far more than being thin: the knowledge of yourself and the strength
to conquer your inclinations.

Hi Brenda, and welcome.

My partner used to drink a dozen regular Pepsis a day, then to lose weight
she went to Diet Pepsi, and then while hospitalized in Cardiac Intensive
Care, she got switched to caffeine-free Diet Pepsi. Not happily.

She lived, thought she says giving up caffeine was almost as bad as giving
up cigarettes (neither as hard as losing and maintaining weight loss).

Does even Dr. Diet Pepper contain caffeine? I bet it does. If so, it can't
count as your water intake. I encourage you to learn to drink water, at
least eight glasses a day. Crystal Light and decaf unsweetened teas like
Red Zinger and such count toward that eight glasses.

I personally drink a gallon a day since I have so much more to lose. If
your body is used to taking in 12 sodas a day, that may be one of your
biggest adjustments. But, as my partner proves, it can be done.

She says she's addicted to caffeine-free Diet Pepsi now, even though it's
just colored water! She shakes in the morning before she gets her first one
just like the old days and the caffeine injection! And it's just colored
water. Our bodies do funny things to us, that's for sure.

May you become addicted to this newsgroup and to WW instead!

Hi, Brittany --

Welcome! Don't worry about protocol or how you should introduce
yourself. Just be yourself and everything else will be fine.

I see you're a PEPPER too (smile). I got hooked on them when I came
to Dallas... not quite to the level that you had achieved but I would
have at least two a week and for me that's a lot since I am long-time
Coke drinker. It's quite an achievement to go from 12 to 1-2 a
day.... that alone deserves an award. One thing side benefit of
drinking all the water is that my skin looks great! I get more
compliments from people about what make-up am I using - I'm 37. When
I tell them nothing except eye brow and eye liner pencils, they are
shocked. I have had fewer acne breakouts and fresher looking skin
since adding lots of water to my eating plan.

I try to drink 96oz of water/de-caff drinks a day (64oz plus the extra
32oz [8oz for each 25 pounds overweight] for the 100+ pounds that I am
overweight). They have a caffeine free Dr. Pepper if you wanted to
treat yourself one or two a week. They also have the caffeine free
Diet Dr. Pepper if you don't want to count any points for it; but,
remember up to 50% of water requirement can be non-water drinks
(de-caff tea, Crystal light, de-caff sodas, etc.), the rest should be
plain ol' water. I highly recommend the Luzianne De-caff tea... its
great...add a little Splenda or Equal and I can practically inhale the
stuff.

I tend to ramble a bit, Brittany... so I'll just end this by saying
welcome once again and I hope to hear more from you in the future.

Hi Cheryl
Thank you for the welcome. I think back and wonder how I started drinking a
twelve pack a day of Dr Pepper
My Mom is 52 years old size 3 at her highest a 5 hardly eats and would never
open up a soda. So here I am 34 and the worst eating & drinking habits. I
am the heaviest in my family everyone is so little (that alone bums you
out). That is why I wanted to do weight watchers, I want to change my eating
habits for life. Not just a quick diet with pills or starving myself.
So I am hoping I stick with it & with all the moral support my WW friends
give me on here, how can I go wrong!!!
So Thanks again for the drinking tips, I want to try the tea you mentioned
talk with you soon
Britt

Hi, Brittany --

I'm brewing a batch of De-caf Luzianne now. Of my siblings, I am the
tallest by 3 inches and the heaviest by at least 90 pounds so I know
where you're coming from. We're here to support you. We all know
that pills and potions are not the solution for LONGTERM weight loss;
only a healthier Way of Eating (WOE) and Way of living (WOL) will lead
to long term weight loss success.

We're on this journey of discovery. You're going to learn lots of new
things. Looking forward to your posts!

Hi Cheryl,
I have never seen that kind of tea, today or tomorrow I will go to the store
and try to find it!
I have had a bad eating day, probably ate my points for the day and it's
1:45. Don't know why have just felt like eating. I am on my second Dr.
Pepper. But that was my last in the house so I have to drink water or tea
now. My hubby went to work so I am kinda blah.
Well talk with you soon
Is the signature thing we talked about working?

Hi, Brittany --

In Outlook Express - to add a signature to your News posts, try this:

1. Click on "Tools"
2. Click on "Options..."
3. Click on "Signatures" tab and the Signatures Window will open
4. In Signatures window, click on "News Signature" in the Signatures
box
5. Further down on the Signatures window, you will see Edit Signature,
click on the circle to the left of "Text" option
6. Click on window to right of Text option and type in your signature.
7. Click OK

The above mentioned steps should add the signature to the end of your
newsgroup postings. I created the following signature in that Text
box - I have put markers to show you where it begins and ends for your
education purposes only...

***start of signature***

***end of signature text***

Each time you try to write a newsgroup post, it will open a message
window with your signature at the bottom, the cursor will be
positioned above the signature so that you can type your e-mail.

I hope this helps. Let me know.

Oh, Brittany --

I forgot to mention. Make sure that in the Signatures
window/Signature settings area, you put a check mark next to: "Add
signatures to all outgoing messages" so that it will add the signature
to your e-mail.
