Question: I know I am going to get one of your tongue lashings,
but how can I make this year different and stick to my New Year's
fitness resolution?

Answer: I won't give you a tongue lashing, but I will tell you
that sticking to a resolution or a goal is simply a matter of doing
what you have to do to get the job done. I know of no piece of advice
or equipment that will help you stick to a plan if you don't provide
the necessary hard work and discipline.
What I am trying to say is that attaining a fitness goal requires
consistent focus. For example, I have had clients who came to me
expecting to lose weight and change their physiques, but failed to do
so because they didn't maintain focus on their goals. Clients who eat
healthy meals, do their cardio, fill out their meal-workout sheets and
come to the weight room ready to work always get results.
Clients who don't get results are the ones who don't fill out their
workout sheets, don't eat what they are supposed to, don't do their
cardio, miss workouts and don't work hard in the weight room. It is
these people who complain the most, use excuses like ``I am super
busy'' or start looking for a new program once they find out that true
hard work is required to change habits.
You can avoid the cycle of yo-yo dieting and failed fitness
attempts by digging in and making a true effort to change exercise and
nutritional habits, without the excuses and reasons why this or that
isn't working. Take your time and search for a program, philosophy or
fitness professional who works for your situation and goals, then
attack it.
Time flies, and by this time next year you will be amazed at how
far you will come if you stay consistent and focused. Forget about
resolutions. Set a goal, make a plan, stick to it and never give up. I
know you can do it - so do it.

This is good advice. I have saved this and when I think I don't have time
to exercise, I'll read it over.

Take Care
