Hi! New to this ng and I'm a beginner as far as what program I should choose.
There's Seattle sutton, WW, nutrisystem, and I already have the Richard
Simmon's program for losing weight by following his eating program (I've not
been following it). I don't know which way to turn, which I should join!!!
Can anyone give me the run down on these programs, and which one would you
all recommend? I am truly lost, and would appreciate your help! thanks in
advance!

We're here in a Weight Watchers newsgroup--guess which program we prefer?

Any program that teaches you to change the way you think about food and
about how you make food choices and which teaches you information for safe,
slow and steady, life-long weight control and maintenance will work. Or
rather, will show you the way to make your own life work better, especially
around food. You still have to do the work. If it were easy to be thin, to
combat all the influences in our society pushing us to be fat, we'd all be
thin.

Most of us here think the WW program is the easiest and best, each for our
own reasons. You've got a lifetime to change your habits, there's no real
rush, check out all the programs you want.

Meanwhile, keep reading here and see if you like how WW works in practice
and if it meets your needs.

Calm down, you aren't lost, you're turning your head around and you're in a
place where you're doing research on a new way of life that will be
healthier and happier!

Nothing to be flustered about, congratulations for reaching that place! Slow
and steady works best every time.

There is a BIG difference between Nutrisystem and WW.... with Nutrisystem, you
lose weight eating their food. With WW, you lose weight eating the foods you
normally prepare (or you can make changes to those foods). Nutrisystem is a
structured plan. WW you have choices you can make. You don't have to give up
any of your favourite things to eat... you just ahve to plan for them.

I have a friend on Jenny Craig (similar to Nutrisystem).... she's not eating
their food. She's doing it on her own but likes the 1 on 1 counselling they
offer rather than the group counselling. I think she was too afraid of
embarassment in a larger group (which never happened when I started).

My sister did Nutrisystem several years ago.... lost about 60 pounds, looked and
felt fantastic and over the last 10 years has steadily put on that weight and
about 60 more. WW is not a diet. It's a new way of looking at the foods you
eat. It is something you can not ever stop doing if you want to keep the pounds
off. It's truly a way of life. I honestly believe that you ahve to be firmly
committed to losing the weight for this program to work. YOu can't go in there
and hope that it works. You have to walk in the door KNOWING that it will work.
You have to want the weight loss more than anything else right now!!

My leader likes to tell us..... don't sacrifice what you want the most, for what
you want in the moment.

Good luck!

Well said, Nancy.
Because no "diet works". Not even Weight Watchers. But the persons doing the
job do:)!
They "Work" And succeed!
No weightloss without sacifice, no weightloss without work.
But it is SO MUCH WORTH IT!!!:)

You're right on that!!!! It does take work. It takes total mind body soul and
spirit commitment! And you can't let it ever leave your mindset.... even when I
tried to "let go" for Christmas I couldn't!!!!!!! After only 4.5 months, it's
in my mind... and I plan on making it stay there!!!!!!!

It's not easy, some days I wanna just give up, but then you look at the big
picture, how far you've come... I'm down 29.6 pounds so far. I'm halfway to my
final goal. I can't let it go. I have to get there.... for me.
