Hi,

I have been lurking for the last few days on this newsgroup. I was a member
of this newsgroup about 1-1/2 years ago. I was than and now truly impressed
with the group. Everyone is very knowledgeable - but not arrogant.
Everyone is also very, very supportive.

I have about 53 more #'s to loose- lost about 17 since April 2. It has been
tough going. I started on Jenny Craig. I liked it - in fact I actually did
Jenny a few years ago - but the counselors are not at all knowledgeable or
supportive - in fact - I believe that they are downright annoying. It is,
of course, very pricey. When I was doing it, I was really just counting
calories and using their food - because it was tasty, easy, and very low in
calories. I also use the DietPower Software. .

I went on vacation last week and did quite a bit of damage - try about 4#'s
in 2 weeks. Well now for my dilemma. I really have never liked WW. It is
so slow and a lot of counting. I definitely don't want to go to meetings -
I also find them time consuming and not at all helpful. I like simply
counting calories - but I am sick of that also.I need some sort of
structure. Does anyone know of a WW CD that can be purchased so that I do
not have to do their online thing? I just like to document things - that
works for me. I saw one on EBay but I think that it was from BC. Could I
use that in the US - are the numbers the same as ours? I have all of the
other things - points counter, companion, etc.

I am trying to decide what will work best for me - I need a change and I
need it SOON.

Thanks,

Kathy

I wasn't here when you were last here, but welcome back. Look forward to hearing
about your future losses. Like you, I did Jenny Craig and ended up hating it. I
love WW's though and it is now my WOL (way of life) and will be that forever.

Hi Kathy, welcome back to the group.

I am in the Uk so things are a bit different over here, but a lot of people
talk about doing the WW programme from home - I should check the
weightwatchers website and see what they have on offer
(www.weightwatchers.com).

Take care and all the best,

Lisa

Well, Kathy, you've obviously been in charge up till now. How's
it working for you?!? I'll say one thing for you -- you're very
clear on everything you *don't* want and *don't* like....

I'm confused about something, though: If you *don't* really like
WW, *don't* like counting, *don't* like meetings, they're *too
timie consuming* and *not helpful,* and it's *too slow,*
etc.....what are you doing here???

You're right, this group *is* knowledgeable and
supportive......about the Weight Watchers Program. But with all
the things you *don't* like about WW, you're programmed for
disaster!

OTOH, if you'd like to do WW for real

<< I have all of the other things - points counter, companion,
etc.>>

then why not try playing the game "as written," instead of holing
up with a pirated CD? How about going for a *real* solution,
instead of a 'fix?'

I have a hunch you're writing cuz your way ain't working, pure
and simple. And if that's so, then maybe it's time to get real,
make a commitment to Kathy and "just do it."

All the help, support and caring you need are here. And "slow is
good" -- because down the road you won't be writing some other
newsgroup saying, "I've done this and done that and don't want
this and don't want that -- now gimme a quick fix, and make is
SOON!" You'll be living in a whole new dimension!

Best wishes,
Tony Florida

I wanted to say slow is good also. Slow is Permanent a lot of the time.
Slow got the first 100 pounds off me, that have stayed off all during the
1990's. Slow is going to get the rest of it off. Looking back, the almost
50 I have lost this year seems to have WHIZZED by.

Thanks, Elaine for the positive reinforcement. I am certainly considering
it. I don't find that the meeting help me - I just need structure & I think
that this would be good for me.

Thanks again,

Thanks Lisa,

I have checked the WW website in the US and you can only do the online
thing. I have used the Diet Power Software (calorie based) with quite a
bit of success - but sometimes I think that a change is good. I would like
to purchase something similiar but with the WW points in it. That way I can
keep on track.

Thanks,

Kathy

Pat,

I had tried to get something like this a few years ago in the US and it was
only put out in the UK. I am quite ignorant about this - but if I purchased
a UK one - would it be in the same numbers as ours - example - calories,
lbs, ozs, etc? If that is the case that they are the same - then I could
buy the UK version when it is on EBay.

Thanks again - you have been helpful.

Lesanne,

You are truly a success story that slow is good. My first 17, or course,
have been slow, but WW has been even slower for me - I think that I tend to
abuse the 0 points.

Thanks, so much and certainly a well deserved congratulation.

Hi Kathy and welcome to the group. The WW At Home kit is available in the
U.S. if you want to try that. You might also look at fitday.com where you
can count fat, calories, etc.

You may also want to take a look at our official welcome notice at:
http://www.geocities.com/welcomenotice/index.html.

Good luck!

Joy,
Thanks for the official welcome. I learned many things from your post. I
went to the 0 calorie soups. I had book marked it from the last time that I
was in the group and I am not sure why - all of a sudden - I couldn't access
it. I had made the Autumn Squash Soup from it and did not remember the
exact spices. It is really good! No matter what diet you are on - those
soups are truly a blessing.

I also realized that the UK is not the same as the US values - so there goes
the CD that is available only there.

I have also bookmarked the fitday.com website. I have been using the
DietPower software for quite a while & in the last few months - the weight
loss that I have lost is due to me documenting it on there. I was hoping to
do something like that - but following the WeightWatcher program. - I find
that this is the most successful way for me to do this. I am not really sure
as to what you get with the online tools - I may have to give it a try.
Thanks Again,

Kathy

The online tools are pretty basic. You get the use of the WW journal and
food/point database; recipe builder (I prefer the mastercook software); weight
tracker (input your weekly weigh in results, get access to a little graph - I do
my own in excel); meal plans - which I have never used; access to their full
recipe database as well as full access to all the message boards (another item I
don't use).

You could easily do without the online tools, as their are similar things
available for free on the internet. I still pay for the use though, as it is
just another *tool* to keep me motivated and on program. Whatever works. lol

The main difference is that in the UK Program, you figure points with the
calories and saturated fat grams, instead of calories, fibre and total fat
grams.

I've done the US program, but I have stuck with the UK program because I
like it better. I lost a lot of weight with it while I was living in
England - and now that I'm in the States I do not find it hard at all to
keep following that plan here. The only difference is that when I find
good food finds, I have to check what the US point value is before I can
share it with my meeting. :-)

Cheers,

Dawn

Dawn - thanks for the info. I am thinking about buying the UK program CD
from EBay - the Item that EBay has is an original - not a pirate one - I
think I would like to document it myself.

Thanks,

Joyce,

I seem to need new things to keep me going - they make more of a game out of
weightloss.
