Look at all the people who never did atkins and had the same thing happen.
That blockage in her artery likely took years to build up. You can't undo
years of bad lifestyle choices overnight.

If you're going to reply to someone you need to quote at least a little bit
of what and who you are replying to or nobody can figure it out. If this
reply was to me, I don't do Atkins. In fact I don't think (but I could be

spritz what you are eating with acetone (fingernail polish remover) to

Lower Carb does not have to equal Atkins.
You can lower your carb intake and use heart healthy oils and fats.
Lean cuts of meat, more fish.
Atkins is one of many many lowered carb choices you can make. If you
don't like it... don't follow it.

Have you read the latest book? I am not on Atkins but my husband wanted to
try it so I did read the book. The diet is very specific as to the amount
of calories eaten and the breakdown thereof. The types of protein and fat
allowed are very specific. People seem to think Atkins is an "all you can
eat" meat and fat diet. It is not.
I've noticed that every once in a while one or more new names will pop
up and start ladling out outrageous lies about Atkins and the Atkins way
of eating. We're on school vacation week here in Boston right now. I
wonder if there's any connection.

You think the Atkins diet involves eating mostly meat and fat. You
obviously know nothing about the Atkins diet. You also think that
eating fat makes you fat and eating cholesterol is what puts
cholesterol in your arteries. These are common misconceptions among
those who get their nutritional science from women's magazines or the
bloke who serves them beer and who are too stupid to wonder how cows
get fat.

Since he hasn't provided any quote it looks like he's talking to

According to the booksellers Atkins diet books have been great sellers
for ages. Like you I've read it out of curiosity, although I've never
followed the diet. I think most of the people who buy the book simply
don't read it. That's the only explanation I can think of for the
amazing amount of complete nonsense that's talked about it, including
by people who actually claim to be on the Atkins diet.
My Grandmother gave me a book that insisted that a protein only diet was the
way to go. I did that diet and lost about 60 pounds in 3 months with my 19
year old metabolism. No one could stay on that type of diet for ever. Every
diabetic knows what those high carb diets do to them.
I have done Atkins and he explained the reasoning for his diet, simply to
prevent excess calories and relieve the bodies constant struggle with
insulin overproduction due to overconsumption of carbs. Plain, simple and
very effective.
Most everyone that ever blamed any diet for any reason had issues well
established prior to engaging said diets.
A "DIET" should be those foods you eat that promote health, vitality, meet
daily energy requirements. What works for one very well, may not be suitable
for another. Patience, persistence and applied knowledge are the best tools
if the person is truly dedicated to resolving the health issues brought
about fast foods, excessive sugars, physically inactivity, and just plain
neglect.
So as Jennifer correctly said "Atkins is one of many lowered carb choices
you can make. If you
don't like it... don't follow it." But do something and get moving.

I do not know of any study which shows that Atkins or
similar is bad. The claims of this in medical journals
is that certain things happen which cannot be good, but
this is also an assumption.
What is known about nutrition, other than that there are
needs for certain nutrients, is unfortunately low. It
is very hard to conduct the long-term controlled
experiments needed, and demographic studies have major
defects. It is consistent with all the present data that
gaining weight might improve human health. The opposite
is also consistent.
