Unfortunately, damage was done, the VP had me terminated (with a generous
severence) and replaced me with his buddy from his last company.
My career ended, and thats another story..
Point is, I came close to killing myself because of a side effect from an
antibiotic. Go figure.
I scan on the internet led me to a web site full of people with similar
symptoms, including notes from parents of people who did kill themselves.
Pfizer and the government sent me questionnaires to answer, and that was
that....been a year, career f*cked up, ex wife engaged to man she left me
for...wow...what a year!
I am so sorry to read your story. I don't doubt that part of the
outbreak of depression in
your case may have been related to antibiotics. I had severe adverse
effects with
CIPRO - an antibiotic with an interesting military history:

However, I think that you may have also been prepped by previous
suppressed
problems that were exhacerbated by this drug -- possibly it is in the
same class
as mine; it was used for the Anthrax scare in the 9/11 Catastrophe.
I think you have come out of this not that badly as you think, because
now you
have a chance to take advantage of the services and psychiatric meds
available.
I hope you will seek and you shall find.

I did 15 schools in 8 years in 4 countries, my in-laws never accepted me,
many good jobs I had, all ended when the company laid off tens of thousands
(telecom meltdown), and the medicine served to open up what was locked
up...
All is better now....well, no, nothing has changed in a year, but, I'm like
I was before, I dont give a sh!t about life's problems, can deal with
adversity, as that is all I've ever known....the meds lowered my guard and
let the emotions come out...

If the patient doesn't know, certainly the doctor will not give an
antibiotic
for flu virus. They're also given conservatively for bacteriological
infections
because they weaken with constant use, I think.

I'm surprised by the first part of your statement, and don't know
about
asthma.

In your circumstances, I find that an alkalizer is enough to fix my URTI
symptoms, but I have never had them so badly. My wife keeps telling me
(usually at the dinner table) that a woman's urethra is only 4 cm (1.5 in)
long and she needs to wipe her bottom in the correct direction. It is true
however that the extra length and separation give a man a bit more protection.
My father died of prostate cancer, but my prostate is normal, and my blood
tests are normal. I had one high reading, but apparently an isolated one is
not unusual. My brother has inherited my father's condition. Get tested
once a year.

Women were here first, and they have never forgiven men for intruding on their patch.
I have taken this antibiotic for respiratory infection as well and had
the same serious
adverse effects. Antibiotics can have idiosyncratic effects on
different people.
This one does not agree with me at all-- possibly the lithium
interacts, but I doubt it;
dose may also be a variable.
