My doctor wants me to try effexor for my muscle pain in my face and
for anxiety, I'm concerned about the side effects when starting a new
medicine. I'm starting a new job and was wondering if maybe I should
wait awhile before starting the med or if people won't notice any
difference in me while working and I should just start taking it.

Any Suggestions

Thanks,
Pete

With Effexor, you won't be drowsy on a job. It can cause insomnia, but
that will go away eventually. Generally, it's not a drug to worry
about interupting your life.

I found the sustained release version very low on side effects, wich wasnt
true for the normal type.

I also recently switched to effexor, mainly for anxiety, and the
switch was pretty painless.
There were no side effects that made me worried about going to work.
My advice would
be to be aware if you're not feeling 100% within the first few weeks.
They may need to increase
the dosage. I think they finally have me at the right dosage and I
feel much better.

There isn't too much to worry about but you could take your first two
doses on a weekend if you're worried.
