Due to loss of libido on Lexapro, my doc changed me from 20 mg of
Lexapro to 30 mg of Remeron.

I think she may have started me on too high a dose of Remeron. Last
night was the fourth on Remeron...the second in succession that I have
had horrific nightmares...very real and frightening (I woke up
screaming). I also feel like a 'zombie'....

I think she may have started me on too high a starting dose of Remeron.

Any considered advice or opinions would be GREATLY appreciated.

Why do you say?

Has she started me on too high a dose? ie what has caused these
symptoms?

What should I do to stop these symptoms? eg not take ANY tonight, and
halve the dose to 15 mg tomorrow night?

Cheers,

I'm on Doxepin...and it causes me to have vivid dreams. This morning
I had a dream that some recruiter from a 99cents store chain called me up
(waking me from sleep) after receiving
my resume and said that my skill set indicated that I would be a good
candidate for a job there. (the horror,
the horror) I woke up, startled in bed, after asking the guy what the
address was that I had to go for
the interview. He started off saying, "9-9-9-", then he went blank.
That's when I knew something
was wrong. :o) IMHO, that's just what the drug does to your brain while
your sleeping. It probably wont
go away, but it might. Lowering the dose might work, but maybe not.

A while back I was on Serzone and had to stop taking it. I would wake up
in the middle of the night
in terror. It wasn't fun at all. Flushed it. You might have to do the
same.

i was trying to be funny.

you should call your doc and leave a message about what's going on with
your symptoms. let her tell you what to do.

i've never been on remeron, so i have no personal experience with it.

you might ping Nom De Plume, a guy on these ng's who studies these meds
and knows them well.

The first time I tried Remeron I was also put on 30 mg as a starting dose.
The very first night I took it my brain was running on overdrive, and I felt
rage and that I was really out of control. So I decided to quit taking it. A
couple of years later I gave it another try, this time with another doc who
started me on 15 mg instead. The experience was totally different. I was
extremely sleepy for the first couple of days, but it was kind of nice since
I also suffer from anxiety. Anyway, after 2-3 weeks on 15 mg I stepped up to
30 mg, and the sleepiness disappeared quite a bit, and I did not at all
experience any of the rage or strange feelings I experienced when starting
at 30 mg the first time.

So to sum it up, I definitely would suggest you give it a try at 15 mg
instead, and then up the dose later on if you feel the need to.

Good luck.
