Hey guys,

For those of you that understand HIPPA laws and have more knowledge of the
doctor patient confidentiality relation than I do (which means everyone
here) is there anything, a statute or statement, that says if you desire to
discuss an issue with a physician and want no notes taken, no records of the
conversation, an absolute zero on a particular subject, that you have the
right to totally restrict a portion of a consultation?
I can tell you guys, because I am essentially a cipher to most of you. I
want to ask about using reefer, both as an adjunct to the pain issues, but
also in the form of an anti depressant. It hasbeen about 25 years since I
have smoked pot with any frequency and those few special occasions that I
have used any in the interim, they were more of a Clinton toke, mouth full
of smoke and blow. As they saying went in my day, "You have to cough to get
off". Not even a nose wrinkle involved.
I know Maryland has a little know medical marijuana provision, it's never
used and inspite of the legality, I am sure it would be enough to get
bounced from every pain clinic in the state.
But back in the day life was just as stressful, yet I was without stress. I
was more creative and motivated, the complete opposite of the couch potato
image of stoners the world sees now. I know too the product has changed. It
may not do what it used to, in fact I may hate this new breed.
But I'd like a chance to try and a chance to discuss it honestly with the
pain doctor, but the last thing I want is an unwarranted "POTHEAD" stamped
across my medical file when I might not even like the new crap that's
available.
So do I want to have my cake and eat it too. Is it foolish to discuss with
an MD? Should I roll the dice and hope it won't show if I give it a try and
can avoid a urine for more than 30 days?
I'm probably not the only one who's been wondering this stuff. So what do
you guys think? Does going non pharmacy for medication make me a bad guy
just for thinking it?
I wont hold any answers or name calling against anyone, just looking for
what you really think, honestly. Thanx--og

IMO, I'd keep as much as possible under raps nowadays in the area your
speaking of just to protect one's self, there's rats everywhere now and word
does move fast when scoring brownie points under the current system, no need
in throwing all your hard work finding a good doctor because of old news but
it does and can happen I would guess, just a thought and HO...Joe

Hi,

I just got a new doc myself...

and I'd listed a couple of odd things (tramadol sr and ibuprofen w/
codeine) that just aren't common US items ... and when asked where I'd
been getting the valium and them I just noted that they'd been "sourced
internationally"...

and he mentioned that I "didn't really smoke" when he was checking
things off on his forms...

so it's kinda not spoken of... I'm honest, and I'm not greedy with what
I'm seeking to help with an obvious legitimate medical condition.

he doesn't directly ask and I don't volunteer.

I am going into my 3rd year as a medical mj patient and my advice is to see
an mj doctor and do not discuss this with any other doctors unless the
subject should arise as a result of testing, always keep yourself legal;
this is not something to do illegally especially if you are on serious pain
medication.......

It also takes from 4-6 months to get enough in your system to help with
pain, this is not a toke or two; depression is not a condition for which it
is legal in the states with compassion/medical mj laws; however, since you
are a chronic pain patient, you likely qualify....!

Sincerely

HI,

I used to work for a state medical school and we had to do HIPPA classes
every year... and basically you'll sign away any REAL LEGAL PRIVACY
before the doc see's you the first time.

> I want to ask about using reefer, both as an adjunct to the pain issues,

my current gp/pain doc looked at me the first time and said "not really"
when filling out the chart on me... I don't have nicotine stained
fingers, teeth, etc... but I'm of the age and have the look of somebody
who, yea, might light one up every now and then.

we just don't talk about it.

> I am sure it would be enough to get bounced from every pain clinic in the state.

I've only mentioned it to one doc... she was vietnamese and her response
was "at your age?" and she just laughed... the vietnamese/khmer put it
in Happy Soup for weddings and stuff.

I don't know what your pain clinic does for urine tests... my doc
doesn't test for drugs at all... why should I buy significant amounts of
street dope? I've got scripts sitting here for around 700$/street-price
for opiates and another few hundred bucks worth sitting in my meds bag
next to me.

he does not care if I smoke the occassional joint.

if you're not routinely tested wait until summer season is over and
airfares are down and take a trip to amsterdam... try a last minute deal
from Travelocity or something and sample the best in the world for a
weekend.

before I had a decent doc and was trying to deal with my back being
broken in several places and my pelvis in 5 along with some nerve damage
I'd order from the IOPs... can't get a lot but T3's and Soma are better
than nothing.

and for some people and some pains indica type (sleeper/couch-lock) type
pot can relieve significant pain.
