No, it has nothing to do with religion. My pissoff du jour has to do with
breeders who, despite KNOWING exactly where we CFer's stand on the topic of
reproducing, CONTINUE to shove their vile propaganda in our faces.

Specifically, this currently involves my SIL. She spawned #1 less than a
year ago and already has #2 in the oven. The first kid was "planned,"
despite the fact that she'd only been with duh-dee a few months and the
positive EPT prompted a shotgun wedding. Duh-dee does nothing to help out
with the baybee responsibilities, they are up to their eyeballs in debt, and
she apparently never had much desire to work to start with which is fine
with her SD who likes her barefoot, PG, and without her name on the checking
account.

So now that PG #2 has been announced, what does she do? Barrage us with the
foulest of foul email FW's. No one will convince me that SAHM's work
haaaaard when this one is so bored that she has nothing to do but forward
sappy emails all day long. Today she sent that hooey (it's been posted here
before so I won't waste the bandwidth) about how, even though it costs
$160,000 to raise a crumbgrinder to age 18, it's all wooooorth it because
you get to hear their first words and get hugged with jam-smeared hands and
be just like God to someone (and they call us selfish? The whole damn story
is about what YOU get as a pah-runt.)

If I sent her that Ann Landers column about the poor childless couple, or an
article on how overpopulation is desecrating our planet, I would be branded
as bitter and barren and hostile. But she just assumes it's OK to foist her
nauseating propaganda on DH and I (and hell, the whole family was cc'ed,
including my other SIL who is also CF, MF, brilliant, stellar in her career,
and one of the coolest people I have ever had the privilege of knowing.)

And no, I'm not going to confront her or cut her off. With the exception of
her pronatalist spew, I have awesome in-laws and have no desire to upset
them with a feud. She is best ignored, as are most breeders -- because
after all, in the end they just want attention. Even she is, deep down, a
very intelligent and talented person -- it saddens me to see her throw away
her identity, her career, her once-gorgeous figure to be a diapermaid.

It just pisses me off that turnabout is not considered fair play, that THEY
are still somehow seen as the noble ones by most of society. Do they really
think they are going to convince us? Do their brain cells really rot? They
must. This weekend I flew from Denver to New York with screaming runts
within 2 rows of me both ways, and if a day in the life of a breeder is even
one-tenth that horrific, I wouldn't do it even if the gov'ment would PAY me
to do it (oh wait ... they would ... nah, no sale.)

Funny how the CF don't have all kinds of emails in constant circulation
singing the praises of our wonderful lives. Maybe we don't have such an
overwhelming need to point out the obvious. Maybe we just have better
things to do.

Rant over ...

Christine, currently getting her daily dose of Unconditional Love from a
darling kitty who worships her but will not be borrowing the car or needing
a college fund

<snip glorious rant about prosyletizing SIL and evangelical cutesy
emails]

I have a cousin, an evangelical cousin, a cousin for whom being born once
was not enough, and from this cousin I get the following sorts of spam,
with accompanying remarks such as "This one is incredible!!!!!"

"Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now....
(and on and on and on and on...)

I expect Cousin sends this stuff to me because I am a Hard Case:
unmarried, unchilded, and horror of horrors, living in that den of
iniquity called California.

My sister, a delight (and her son, so much for all CF hating chyldrun!)
wrote the following in reply (I quote in part):

"I am scared, as you can see
By this drivel sent to me
Separation of Church and State
Is what has made this country great!"

A friend kept sending me email forwards on the wonders of angels and
Jaysus and Gawd's Luv (and sticky jam hands <shiver>), until I pointed
out that I'm an atheist. She replied that, "Even as an atheist I imagine
you can appreciate the beauty of the sentiment----and the underlying
truth that all things in this world depend on who's in control (or who's
hand holds the reins, etc.)..."

Despite her protests, she's stopped bombarding me with the Cute
Evangelical stuff now. And we're still speaking.

I used to get those from SAHMs too but after ignoring them, sending sarcastic
replies, or countering with CF-biased stories, they've finally stopped. Now I
just get occasional "adventures of the sproggen" sagas with absolutely no
personal, adult information volunteered except, "We *finally* got to go out
last night after finding a great babysitter! It was pure heaven. Oops, I hear
scraming (sp), gotta get back to the monsters." I write back as if they're
pleas for sympathy, saying how sorry I feel for the sender that she has no time
to relax. Gee, no response to my latest note; wonder why? Hee hee hee. ;>

I think this is it. Or that we don't need to convince ourselves that
it's "allll woooorth iiiit!" with a constant barrage of cutesy emails,
sentimental pictures, and repetitive reassurances of the wonders of
breeding. _We already know_.

I must grant, though, that I've seen a remarkable lack of evangelism
from CFers on ANY subject, as compared to the breeding population.
Sure, we get a bit on political grounds, but you'd get that from the
childed too - just with a different focus (at times almost the polar
opposite! *laugh*). There is quite a bit less of "you must be just
like me" among the CF, while it's rampant among the childed, and isn't
that pretty much what evangelism is all about?
