HALL COUNTY, Ga. -- A Hall County child is recovering from a painful
injury today.

Authorities said a waitress accidentally spilled hot soup on a 6-year-
old boy Monday at Kiku Japanese Steak and Sushi restaurant on
Dawsonville Highway.

The boy was burned over 20 percent of his body so medics flew him to
Grady Memorial's Burn Unit.

The boy has burns on his face and neck. Officials said the boy stepped
in front of the waitress, who was carrying a tray of soup. The soup
spilled on the boy when the two collided.

DAMMIT! When are the parents going to start teaching their children
to stay in their chairs and out of the way?!?!? That was the FIRST
thing I was taught when I was old enough to be taken out to a
restaurant! If I got out of my chair without an "escort" (other than
at the beginning and end of the meal), I was told to get back on my
chair and physically put there if necessary.

I'm (not) sorry, but six years old is old enough to know how to behave
at a restaurant, even the "family" ones.

I expect the restaraunt replaced that already.

So *they* should use the little shit's parents for the cost of the
soup.

"According to Gainesville Fire Chief Jon Canada, the 6-year-old boy was

Actually, the sprog was probably running around like a dervish
on crack and ran into the waitress, possibly deliberately.

WTF is a 6-year-old doing "walking around" in a restaurant? At 6 I was
capable of going to the ladies room by myself, but that didn't involve
"walking around", it was table to bathroom to table; A to B, then B to A.
And I damn sure knew better than to get in the way of the waitron.

My step-sis worked her way through grad school as a waitron in a fine dining
restaurant. She was carrying a huge tray (she could do the one hand, over
the shoulder thing!) full of cocktails, glasses, and wine bottles when a
sproggen climbed up onto his chair, flailed his arms, and ended up showered
in booze and broken glass. The parents screamed bloody murder and wanted her
fired. The owner/manager not only didn't fire her, he made the breeders pay
for the entire tray of drinks. That's my kind of guy!

Notice nothing is said about the waitress. Something similar happened
to one of the waitresses at the restaurant I waited tables at when I
was in school and the results were pretty bad. The waitress ended up
falling and injuring her back, leaving her unable to do that kind of
work anymore. She had younger siblings to support since her father
was gone and nobody could find him, and mother went to jail for
helping her boyfriend get drugs. She ended up on workers' comp and
was able to get tuition assitance to train to be a legal secretary,
which pays more than waitressing. She's doing better financially, but
says in spite of surgery, therapy, etc., she's in constant pain and
probably will be for rest of her life.

Something like that happened to me as well. I got run into by a kid
running around the restaurant while carrying a tray of sodas and I
ended up dropping them and falling. I was out of work for a few weeks
because I hurt my leg and couldn't stand for long periods of time.
The parents had the nerve to yell at me because I got their kid all
wet! Fortunately, we had just gotten a new manager who didn't allow
his staff to be treated that way by anyone. He told them to quit
yelling and treat me with respect, and when they told him off, he
asked them to leave and said if they didn't, the police would escort
them out. They threatened to complain to corporate and all that, but
he stood his ground and asked them to leave.

When they left, a bunch of people cheered and this one couple came
over to help. He said they were both doctors and gave me some advice
on what to do about my leg until I could get it XRayed. I had waited
on this couple before and they were always very nice and good
tippers. They sometimes came in with 2 children and the children were
always quiet, well behaved, and very polite, always saying "thank you"
when handed them drinks, food, etc.

My injuries weren't that severe, but I still sometimes get pain in
that leg if I've been walking or standing for a very long time, and
that was a good 15 years ago. Darn breeders.

Yep, most likely the parents and child are white and the waitress is
Asian, and the racist white family have a "the world is our
playground" attitude and try to arrest/sue any ethnic person who
doesn't do exactly what they want.

Ideally some people will be sympathetic to the waitress and give her
generous tips.

STFU, bitch! Racism against Asians is a reality. What the hell would
you know about race, living in lily-white Canada where they used
ethnic cleansing against the Native Americans.

"Lily-white Canada"?

You're not only racist, you're ignorant. (Oh, and by the way, they're known
as "Native Canadians" north of the border.)

Depends on the group in question. All First Nations people are Native
Canadians, but not all Native Canadians are First Nations.

Not sure what are euphemisms- after all, every group has to be called
*something* to identify it.

I gather in Indian America, "Indians" suits people just fine, although
it doesn't do much to identify.

The comments on this one are somewhat depressing. Such as
the twits who were suggesting that the soup was too hot.

Yes, now soup will have to be no hotter than is comfortable
for a sprog to wear over its entire body. Sigh.

Well, anyway, there's no indication the restaurant might be held
accountable, and you'd think that would have been mentioned by now if
the boy's family wanted it that way.
