Chicago - Domestic violence charges have been re-filed against Des
Plaines Police Sergeant Matthew Hicks.
Hicks, 46, is accused of beating his wife in their home last April.
A McHenry County judge previously dismissed the charges because one of
the officers who responded to the scene was unavailable to testify as a
witness.
Prosecutors have now re-filed the case.
Hicks has been suspended without pay pending an internal investigation.
His hearing with the Des Plaines Police and Fire Commission begins next
week, while he's due in court on the criminal charges on Jan. 18.
