"Fritsche said she went to the residence to talk to LeMaster, who initially
told her he had been out of the room and when he returned, he found Jonathan
making gurgling noises, with large eyes and a purple face."
And this is different from any other goddam baby just how?
Note this element of the story:
"Several small children in Morgan County have died from violent abuse in the
past few years.
"In April 1998, 9-month-old Brittany Nicole Smith died of severe abuse. Her
mother, Trina Smith, is serving a 33-year sentence after being convicted on
three counts of neglect. Her boyfriend, Timothy McSchooler, was sentenced to 30
years in prison for failing to obtain medical care that would have saved the
baby's life.
"In June 1999, 16-month-old Dylan Sanders died of blunt force trauma to the
abdomen. His mother, 19-year-old Elizabeth Sanders, was found guilty of
involuntary manslaughter and neglect of a dependent, and was sentenced to 28
years in prison.
"In October 1998, 4-year-old Hope James was beaten to death. Stephen Sherwood
was given a life sentence, which was later overturned. He is awaiting a new
trial. His girlfriend and Hope's mother, Alice Barrett, served 585 days for
neglect of a dependent and was released."

Three dead sprog. Two Moomee's Boyfriends, one Dylan, and one Brittany.
The breeders are nothing if not predictable.

Her 10-month-old son, Jonathan M. Nix, was pronounced dead at Morgan
County Memorial Hospital Monday night.
The child's father, 24-year-old Lee LeMaster of Centerton, faces charges
of murder and neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, a
Class B felony, after he told police he was practicing martial arts moves
and accidentally fell on the baby at his Clay Street residence.
That's the third explanation of events LeMaster has given police,
according to Chief Deputy Volitta Fritsche of the Morgan County Sheriff's
Department.

Folks, you should read this story. It's amazing. The "I fell doing 'karate fu
do'" was his THIRD version. You gotta read the progression on this one. And the
background. I'm putting in two short 'graphs below, with a surprise spoiler at
the end. Enjoy.
Briefly, the article says:
The incident apparently was not
the first one involving LeMaster
and his son. Fritsche said Jonathan
had been brought to the hospital
on Sept. 30 with three broken ribs
and a black eye.
"His father told us then that he had
been taking a shower with the baby
and had dropped him," Fritsche
said, noting medical personnel said
the child's injuries were consistent
with LeMaster's explanation. "We
have to take the expert's opinion,"
she said.
..... and what do you think was the VERY NEXT sentence?

"It's a tragedy," Fritsche said. "It's terrible to lose a child."

That's three CF people now in southern IN.
We're on the grow....
Well, I'm there. Uh, here.

So that makes... um, five? Whoo-hoo!
So where is everybody? I'm in Washington, near Vincennes, an hour south of
Terrible Haute.

Nothing good ever happened to me in TH. Back in the bad old days, before I
earned my degree, I was an assistant manager for a fast food dump. They sent
me several days a week to "help out" at the restaurant at 25th and Wabash.
What a dump! What a neighborhood! I HATED it!!!

Ahh, Bloomington. Most people think the psychedelic era was in the sixties.
*My* psychedelic era was in Bloomington, on the IU campus, back in the
mid-eighties. I failed miserably in my schoolwork, but I spent many late
nights in the dorms uttering such pungent witticisms as, "Uhh, guhhhh..."
and "Whoaaaa... ... ... ma-aaa-aaannnn..." and the ever popular, "Uh... wha'
were we talkin' about?"
Yup! That's the place! One night, a really scary looking man with bright red
eyes (no, really!) came in, irate because his 79-cent burger "sucked." He
left with a bucket of chicken, a coupla big burgers, fries, and drinks for
his buds-- all free-- because I didn't like the suspicious bulge in his
jacket pocket. No way *I* was getting shot over money that wasn't even mine!
Cool! So how many are default John Mellencamp fans?
ygrii, who really really likes John Mellencamp's music

So... you mean... like our whole universe could be a single molecule on the
thumb of some great giant? Then that would mean that on my thumb could be... a
whole... little... universe...

Wow. Seven. My in-laws are from the Fort Wayne area. They moved south back
in the fifties. Um... lessee... MIL is from, uh, Bluffton, I think... and
FIL from Decatur. I think.
Yeah, and I can prove it. I lay on my back late one night outside Ballantine
Hall, staring into the sky studying the vast iron framework that held the
universe together. I don't remember *how* this proved the thumb theory, just
that it *did*.
It's likely. I threw up so much at IU, I feel nauseous any time I'm in town.

Hmmm... I know the one you're referring to, but damned if I can remember
where it is. Near the Musical Arts Center, maybe?

Yeah, I think I'll wait on the reviews for that one ... but seriously, I'd
like Mellencamp a lot more if Indiana radio stations didn't play him *quite*
so often.
But now that we've fallen into a Hoosier thread, let me try to make it
useful. Does anyone know a CF-friendly doc in the Bloomington or Indy
areas? I was planning on waiting until after I was 30 for a tubal (because
of the odds of failure), but I might be changing jobs in the near future,
and my current gig covers it. (I turned 29 in August, so I'm pretty
close, anyway.) I mailed a friend of mine who works at Planned
Parenthood, and
she replied that's she's in the same boat.
Feel free to mail me in private, if you prefer.
