Why are these children dying?
This page is in memory of children died of neglect or abuse while
under the care of the social service agencies! Many died suspiciously
or from neglect. Most of their lives and deaths went unnoticed. The
deaths of these children -- and what government agencies did or didn't
do to save their lives -- Even when they die, their stories are
rarely told.
They are the stories no one wants to hear -- children, abused and
neglected, some to the point of death.Many of them must leave their
families to go into shelters or foster care. Often these children
leave their homes with only a garbage bag to hold their clothes and
favorite toys, the most are routinely tossed from one temporary
placement to another, often ten or twenty times during their most
formative, vulnerable years.This is the continuing saga of crimes
against Foster children. Children are dying, inside and out...
State cannot say how many foster children die each year, even though a
state law that took effect in 2004 requires counties to release the
names, dates of birth, and dates of death for these children. The new
law is not being followed by all. There's no way to get more
information without going to the courts,it's extraordinarily difficult
for the public to learn who in the system is dying and why. There is
absolutely no reason why an advocacy group, a newspaper, an elected
official, or any other concerned member of the public should have to
go to court to find out what happened when a foster youth dies. The
Department of Social Services keeps all names confidential .Imagine --
our state's most vulnerable children, betrayed by a state system that
was supposed to protect them -- and we have no idea who they are.
These are the stories of some of those children. There is a story
behind each picture, real story about one short life....Please take a
couple of minutes to look around and see what are we talking about.

I can certainly tell you how one of them died. I am THE WITNESS that
many have tried to shut up, but can't. Please always stay in touch
with me.
My name is Robert VonZurLinde, and I was in the Infirmary at St.
Colmans Home in Watervliet, N.Y. which is connected to Albany, N.Y. I
was just beaten so bad that I had to be put into the infirmary, and I
just layed there crying. A little later they brought in another little
eight year old boy. He had been beaten so bad in the playroom that he
had blood all over his face, and shirt,and arms. I was in the third
bed in the infirmary, and they put this little boy in the first bed,
just inside the door. This little guy was one of my very best friends
at the time. He couldn't stop screaming, he was hurting so very bad.
One nun came in two times to scream at him to shut up, or else. The
third time she came in, she told me to turn my head, which I did, but
only a little, and I could see everything that was going on. This
little friend of mine was screaming so loud, it must have really
disturbed this nun. When she came in, she took a pillow, and straddled
him, then pushed the pillow down over his face. He kicked, and
screamed, and kicked and screamed some more, and then I watched as he
went limp. They took him to the hospital, where he died.
I have written hundreds of letters, and been on two television
programs telling the story. A book has been writen named, The Throw
Away Child. This book tells of the many tortures that we suffere at
St. Colmans. The beating was witnessed, and the MURDER was witnessed,
and all of the Doctor's certificates, such as a death certificate have
been proven to be altered. When his little body was exhumed in 1995,
there was evidence still left of collapsed lungs, which would indicate
smothering, and not the menengitis that the doctors phonied up to
protect the nuns. I have approached The Bishop, and written hundred of
letters. I have to this date recieved eighteen death threats, and over
two hundred threats to stop.
The Little Boy's Name was Gilbert Bonneau. He was smothered, and died
in November of 1953 at St. Colmans Home in Watervliet, N.Y. The Police
have lied. The District Attorney has conveniently put the case at the
bottom of the pile, everytime it comes up. Without exaggerating, St.
Colmans Home was a torture chamber for little children that had no one
to care about them. Those that had visitor's come to see them were not
marked up as we were. To this very day, I work along with Bill
Bonneau, Danny Bonneau, and Pat Bonneau, along with former NYPD
Detective Gus Papay. I work so hard for justice, but get laughed at. I
am 64 years old, and pretty crippled up now, but I am so thankful that
someone helped me get a computer in 1997, and I learned how to reach
out.
Last October 9th, I went with the Brothers to the potters grave that
St. Colmans dumped Gilberts body in, and almost broke. Then for the
first time in years, I went to St. Colmans. That cold brick building
still looks as it did then. They had the security guards throw me off
the property, and told me that I was not welcome. I was not welcome to
the place that has tormented me to this very day. They Murdered my
little friend, and they beat , and tortured so many others of us.
Please don't ever forget this little eight year old boy who always
shared a slice of old toast with me when he got it, and I shared with
him when I could get it. He went into St. Colmans as a little boy who
needed care, and he came out in a little white pine coffin with his
altar boy gown on, dead. None of us deserved what St. Colmans did. At
least I came out alive but disturbed. Now I still suffer the
nightmares of The Murder of Gilbert Bonneau, and The beatings, and

Why were kids there in general?
Who owns the facility now and what do they call it?
What do you think about how NOW we have agencies
and courts that remove kids to state care without
implementing the Bill of Rights protection of the family
against the agencies and their courts?
Kids in facilities like that in that era were not seen
as moneymakers for agencies were they?
I'm sorry you had to endure that, but thanks for speaking up!

Greg..I am sorry, but I just got this email. Gilbert was in St.
Colmans Orphanage for the same reason that most of the rest of us
were. We were either not wanted, or orphans, and we would get dumped
on the doorsteps of St. Colmans. It is in Watervliet, NY. That is a
part of Albany County. Many of us have never recovered, and that
includes me, and I am 64 years old, and crippled due to what happened
to me as a child. Thank God I was able to raise five beautiful
children, and give them all the Love that I only wished that I had
even a part of. They beat us silly. They fed us what the nuns would
not eat, and when we tried to tell anyone, we would get a beating from
the ones we told, and then another from the one we tried to tell
about. I was recently there for the first time since leaving in 1954.
They knew who I was, and threw me off the property. There are many of
us telling our stories, and have been for years. I watched my friend
Gilbert get smothered to death, and I see it at least once a day. The
Albany Bishop has covered up plenty, and he knows it. I don't know
what else to say, Greg. Please just pray for us. You can also Google
the name Gilbert Bonneau, and find plenty.
