Hello Jerry,
I'm sorry you find these posts upsetting.
I note that the osteoporosis newsgroup asked you to please not top post.
Also note that when the breast cancer newsgroup FAQ was being made (or edited
at some points) there were numerous discussions on that and other newsgroups.
And requests for same from new persons posting to ASCB. Posting "newsgroup
business" is a "necessary evil" in the process, but seemed to have been
positively received.
I realize that you weren't on (those) newsgroups at that time, but perhaps
you'd like to peruse the following to confirm what I'm posting here?

In fact, when you first posted, Tim replied with their FAQ website.

All my best,
J
I don't believe that was the case.....(and it might be that it was because
bottom posting doesn't work well for me) but if I remember correctly, I
joined in the debate that someone else had started. Either way... thanks
for reminding everyone that many of us have more than one problem.
All that work, pain and suffering for nine potentially valid vote. That
should be an indication as to how the rest of us feel about the FAQ/Charter,
and for that matter top or bottom posting. We come here because we have
cancer and want answers or advice-or we quit coming here. Just because
usenet is arcane is no reason to keep it that way.

You weren't saying that a while back when you were posting "scram scram".

It's your (plural) decision as to whether to continue these subjects/threads or
get back to what you want, support. answers and advice.
Your choice(s).
Best,
J

Hi Me2, me either, but I'm using Netscape so the "bottom/top-post" setting is
the same for e-mail and newsgroup. My e-mail friends prefer top replies.
Usenet prefers bottom replies. One of the reasons is to force posters down
through the text, snip the parts to which they are not responding. Reasons
for that, bandwidth. Also "dial-up" posters or those who have older
computers cannot handle long posts. Also some European countries pay a line
charge, extra fee for amount of time on-line (which some of us don't have to
pay).
IIRC Outlook has a separate setting for e-mail (mail) as opposed to
Newsgroups.(news)
Besides, you did it ! <smile>

Me too, me2.
I don't understand this upset over some simple guidelines. (bottom posting,
snip as much as possible)
They can get much more complicated (on some newsgroups).

Yes, quite a bit, Anth
(under Coping, Prevention, Risks, Chemo-Friendly and other areas) in Part 2A and
2B of 4
<http://groups.google.com/groups?q=FAQ+diet+group:alt.support.cancer&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&scoring=d&selm=8h47cvc708m4k6fqpulsrp548bc354a8ut%404ax.com&rnum=3>
It only takes a few minutes to scroll through each and watch the sub-titles or
watch for keywords (in each).
There's also a link in part 2B to "Win Against Cancer"
http://www.cancer.umn.edu/page/winathome/index.html
Hope this helps?
