My latest Viagra prescription didn't seem to be working. Not only
were the primary effects not working, but also the side effects were
much reduced or absent. So I tried an outdated pill and and it
worked fine. (All the pills were supplied through a US drug plan.)
Did you maybe get a lower dose this time? I would call the pharmacist at
the drug plan and talk with him.

Yeah. The bulky ski jacket I have to wear to hide the results looks out
of place in midsummer.
Hyuck, hyuck.

I was wondering if different doses were different colors, seems not.
Looking for the answer to my question I found this, so you can check the
dose you have:
"Viagra pills are blue and diamond-shaped with the words "Pfizer"
engraved on one side, and "VGR xx" (where xx stands for "25", "50" or
"100", the dose of that pill in milligrams) engraved on the other."
If there was an error in the prescription, it might of been the drug
plan or the doctor writing the prescription.
sue
The pills in question have 100 engraved on them. The difference was
pretty obvious, but perhaps there was some other factor that prevented
the medication from being absorbed.

What idiot thought that up? It should be marked L, XL, and XXL :-)

THERE'S the problem; you're reading them upside down.

I sort of like the Spanish "Grande" better.
Does that supplier "guarantee" that you'll receive the real thing?
Yes I have had issues in the past with some pills. I know for a fact
that the old ones I got from a friend, did not work at all, but they may
have been 3 years old? I also see a conflict with my BP meds sometimes.
Can't pinpoint it exactly, but the V works best when it's not taken too
closely after the others.

The supplier is Walgreen's Health Initiatives, which manages my drug
plan.
Drug interaction is one possibility. I take an ACE inhibitor, which
is divided into two does, which I take morning and evening. The
times I had problems, I took the second dose about half an hour before
the Viagra. But the last time, when I didn't have a problem, I took
the ACE inhibitor two or three hours afterwards.
I called Walgreen's and spoke to a pharmacist who assured me there
were no drug interactions that could explain the problem, but he also
told me that food eaten shortly before should have no effect, and I
know that is wrong.

It's sad that no one seems to know all when it comes to V. I'm guessing
it's all the other things that may influence our reactions. Age, partner,
sex drive, weight, mood, emotions, etc etc....

My friend says to his wife, "you know the Viagra pills look a lot like
my allergy pills - so If I Sneeze, WATCH OUT!"

In my case, between when it worked and when it didn't, age differed by
a few weeks, the partner was the same, sex drive was pretty high, and
weight was unchanged..
Mood is a possibility, but I think most likely either it was
something about how I took the drug or it was a weak batch of pills.

JK,
ACE inhibitors, Alpha blockers and Beta blockers will inhibit the
effectivness of any PDE-5 inhibitor, as will fatty foods and /or alcohol.
This info is from my wife (a Pharmicist with personal experience)
i have switched to taking all my Lisinopril (ace inhibitor) at
breakfast. Let's see if that makes any difference with the latest
batch of pills.

Does that mean you take your V at night? Can't assume we all do it the
same time. We partake after the morning shower, so I do my BP meds evenings.

Hi Len.
Alcohol in your system? Full stomach with heavy foods which may empty
slower? Not feeling well, where the pill would not be absorbed as
quickly?
Did it happen with every new pill, cuz it COULD be a fluke?

I just got a new sup0ply of Viagra from my drug plan, and the first
pill worked fine.
Of course, my previous experience can be explained by all sorts of
things, but the case for a bad batch of pills is getting stronger.
I wonder if there is any inexpensive way to have the previous batch
tested? It is not worth my while to make a big deal about it, but I
am still curious.

==> I suspect that if you take them back and demand your money back, they
will either test it or give you your money back. I also suspect they are
under some Federal requirement to report instances of medicinal failure. If
so, it's likely you're not the only one.

Wow! what a great idea. I think there's a Northwestern University near
him, too!
Len had not yet retired when I was a grad student there. I never had him in
a class, as he was an algebraist and I was studying dynamical systems. But
my wife took some algebra courses from him.
It's likely very different at a big place like NWU, but I pick the brains of
the science faculty here at EC all the time about things related to PCa.
