1) No place for semen to go. And even if the ducts were spliced into
the urethra, would I be dribbling semen? Would urine back up into the
vesicles?
2) Possible site for cancer to spread to. But is this any more likely
than other places?

The better reason is that the seminal vesicles are attached to the prostate
like wings. When you cut the prostate out of the urinary tract, the wings
come with it. And, yes, if he cut the wings off the prostate and left them
behind, they would serve no purpose and might contain cancer - as did mine.

That is excellent!!!
You had a tumor in the bladder neck, didn't you? Continued undetectible
readings are fantastic.

Prostate cancer normally travels from the prostate to the seminal
vesicles (SV) to the lymph nodes and then the bones in its normal
progression. If there is only a small chance that the cancer has
spread outside the prostate then the SVs could be left in and there
has been some work done on trying precisely that. For more see:

Great info! Thanks!
My SV pathology was negative for cancer, but my scores were on the
upper end of the SV sparing scale. According to the articles sparing
the SV improves continence and potency. I'm pleased with my
continence but not potency. Cialis helps.

And that's why my husband has been able to ejaculate with no problem
since his surgery. After 9 years of ejaculating without even the
slightest of an erection (fellatio), to ejaculating with a full erection
(intercourse), has really changed our lives.
Don't knock a cock-ring until you have tried one. The one we use is a
Doc Johnson flexible plastic one. It goes over the top of the penis at
the base and behind the scrotum. Five minutes or so of stroking with a
well-lubed hand and he is ready to go.
