Buried a friend from work today. Dx'd with Prostate Cancer at 45. Underwent
a prostatectomy followed by standard external radiation at MD Anderson. A
year later went on hormone treatment and standard chemotherapy when his PSA
rose. Took himself off of Lupron injections three years later. PSA rose a
year later with evidence of metastases to his hips. Started back on Lupron
in combination with several new trial drugs. Unable to continue productive
work at seven years; followed by death three years later at age 55.
Note: His father, two uncles, brother, and three cousins all died from
prostate cancer.

I'm sorry for your loss, Mike.
I hate people turning these things toward themselves, but in this case....
I had a friend last week shoot himself over a bad visit. I had a friend
today send a text reporting he had a 0.08 PSA three years after surgery.
Losing friends is often a side effect of becoming friends with PCa victims.
But, sometimes the news is good.
