Where is Tim?

I didn't need all of these ads and dumb stuff when I was diagnosed...I
needed Tim and all of the gals and their husbands that knew what I was going
through, explained my test results and told me what I might face in the
future. Sorry folks, that is what a breast cancer support group is to me.
Thank God I got that when I needed it! Hopefully we can once again give it
to those that need it now!

The ads etc. seem to be a function of the web-based group. Since
changing my isp I can't get newsgroups without jumping through hoops
so I took the (relatively) easy way of going through Google. It works,
sort of.

But as you say, all the extraneous stuff is an irrelevance. We simply
have to learn to ignore it, as we do huge adverts at the roadside. I
have no answers to how to encourage newly diagnosed people though ...
except to suggest that we publicise the group as individuals. We could
put up notices in waiting rooms, ask doctors to give out the
information and, of course, do it on a personal level as soon as we
hear of anyone. Direct action!

I'll join you in your celebrations - and every other survivor. I'm now
in my eleventh xurvival year, no idea how much longer we have since we
attained our biblical span but it's all a bonus from here :-)

Yes, the group used to be very different. Like Mary, I have to do a
web based approach now too. It isn't as convenient.

On November first, I'll celebrate the 26th anniversary of my
mastectomy. For a few years, it was a difficult day, and then one day
I realized that I should be celebrating the operation that saved my
life. It's important, I think, to let newly diagnosed ladies know
that there is indeed life after breast cancer! It's also important
for a bc lady to have support and love to get through treatment.....

Here's hoping that we all have many, many more birthdays to celebrate!

That's a good question.

If I knew it was as along ago as that I'd forgotten :-)

But yes, we should celebrate - any excuse for a party! We always used
to celebrate my husband's heart attack, then my brain surgery, then
the bc happened and his pc and his hydrocele and somehow we've
forgotten to party.

Thanks for the reminder, Barb, I'll put them all on the wall planner.
And add your date if you give it. They really ARE birthdays,our new
lives began on the day of diagnosis.

November 1st is my anniversary date. This year we will be away for
the weekend, so we will be grateful for the chance to eat some nice
meals, visit with family...my sis and her husband are going too,
Christmas shop and rest. I'll be taking some time to appreciate being
here!
