How to stop nursing?

My wife is trying to no avail to wean our son from breastfeeding. He will
not take a bottle and won't stop whining all day long. He just follows her
around wanting to nurse. Any suggestions? BTW, he's almost 14 months old.

What is your wife's reason for weaning in the first place and how often did
your son breastfeed each day prior to her making the decision to wean him.
Is she doing it cold turkey or has she been gradually weaning him? At 14
mos, your son should be able to drink from a cup. To switch from breast to
bottle at this age seems "pointless" IMHO as he'll have to go through
weaning all over again. Does your son use anything else for comfort such as
sucking his thumb/fingers or taking a pacifier? It sounds like he's having a
hard time with the method of weaning your wife is using. If it's not a major
thing for her to stop breastfeeding, why doesn't she continue for a few more
months? It certainly won't hurt your son.
