My niece has been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder but from
talking with her I think she may also be experiencing spiritual emergence,
since she has said she has had signs (but not voices) from God. One thing she
is most concerned about is how to suppress involuntary out of body
experiences, which she is afraid might happen when she is driving or working.
Do you have any tips on that, or any tips on dealing with Borderline
Personality Disorder in general, including therapy and nutrition/diet? A
doctor has prescribed her an antidepressant but she feels that it didn’t
help her at all the last time she took one. Two of her maternal uncles (my
brother and I) are bipolar, but she has not had mania or hypomania, and the
Borderline Personality Disorder might be from her father’s side of the
family.

It has nothing to do with spirituality. Her symptoms seem dissociative.
She should seek help from a trained professional specializing in trauma.

Personality disorders are not inherited with genes. They most often result
from various deficiencies or maltreatment during one's childhood.
