This is a "first draft". It's based on the "Geek Code" if you've seen
that before. I'll welcome suggestions and may include them in ASC 1.1
You can include this code on your web page, in your signature, etc...
Note that the code is case sensitive. For instance, there is a "p" and a
"P", but they are different things.
My code is:
AA! d- c++++ s+:-- a-- p+ t++ f--- S++ p-- e+ h+ r* n++ i+ P- m+++
M-->++
VARIABLES
@ for this variable, said trait is not very rigid, may change with time or
with individual interaction. For example, autistics who like math but
dislike Geometry may list themself as m++@
() for indicating "cross-overs" or ranges. Autistics who could go from
s++ (mostly) to s--- might indicate it with s++(---) @ is different from
() in that () has finite limits within the category, while @ ranges all
over.
> for 'wannabe' ratings. Indicating that while the geek is currently at
one rating, they are striving to reach another. For example, m-->++
indicating someone who wants to someday become good at math, but is poor
at it right now.
? Unless stated otherwise within the specific category, the ? is placed
after the category identifier and indicates that the autistic has no
knowledge about that specific category. For example, a person that has
never ever heard about trains would list t?
! Placed BEFORE the category. Unless stated otherwise, indicates that the
person refuses to participate in this category. This is unlike the ?
variable as the ? indicates lack of knowledge, while the ! indicates
stubborn refusal to participate. For example, !t would be a person that
just plain refuses to have anything to do with public transit, while t?
would be a person that doesn't even know what public transit is.
TYPE OF AUTISTIC
AA - Autistic "Disorder"
AC - Autistic Cousin
AS - Asperger's Syndrome
AP - PDD
A - General Autistic Spectrum
Append a "!" if there is an official DX, a "?" if the status is unclear.
Apply a ">" if person is a wanna-be autistic.
DRESS
d++ I tend to wear conservative dress such as a business suit and tie
d+ I dress in "business casual" clothing - slacks, button-shirt, etc.
d I dress in a bland, boring way.
d- I'm usually in jeans and a t-shirt.
d-- I dress in torn jeans and dirty t-shirts.
d--- I wear whatever I woke up wearing!
dx Cross Dresser
d? I have no idea what I am wearing right now, let alone what I wore
yesterday.
!d No clothing. Quite a fashion statement, don't you think?
dpu I wear the same clothes all the time, no matter the occasion,
forgetting to do laundry between wearings.
SHAPE
Autistics come in many shapes and sizes. Shape code is divided into two
parts. The first indicates height, while the second indicates roundness.
Mix each section to fit yourself. Examples include: s:++, s++:, s++:--.
s+++:+++ I usually have to duck through doors/I take up three movie
seats.
s++:++ I'm a basketball/linebacker candidate.
s+:+ I'm a little taller/rounder than most.
s: I'm an average autistic
s-:- I look up to most people. Everyone tells me to gain a few
pounds.
s--:-- I look up to damn near everybody. I tend to have to fight
against a strong breeze.
s---:--- I take a phone book with me when I go out so I can see to eat
dinner. My bones are poking through my skin.
s!:! I refuse to discuss my height/roundness!

p- Liberal (Dutch: liberaal) has a "right" meaning. As you describe it,
liberal would mean socialistic, communistic. Conservative means liberal or
even fascistic. Hitlerism is described as "right" (vs left!!!), but I think
it is partly right, partly left.

Hmmmm..... how about some sort of code for a parent/spouse of an
autistic. The biggest problem I see is that P is already used quite a
bit, and confusion might occur. How about PofA and SofA? It would be
possible to have more than one code for this, obviously.

How about: I have interests, but none strong enough to be called a
perseveration? Maybe p0 (NOTE: both perseverations and politics have a
lower case 'p'. In addition, there is an upper case one. Can this be
avoided, or must we rely on position, as well as case?)

Perhaps "No one would ever think I'm not an NT!" would be clearer. Not
being different from *any* NT would be pretty difficult, unless all NTs
are alike.

At what age would a person normally reach level "e" (finished Middelbare
school on MAVO-level)? Am I correct that the Middelbare is the
'intermediate' school you mentioned? If so, does one finish Middelbare
at different ages, depending on level? Or is it simply a difference in
the curriculum the students take?

I see. I think that VMBO would be called vocational school here. Quite
some time ago, high schools had different "tracks", one of which was a
vocational track. The students in that program would take classes with
the intention of learning and entering into a trade, rather than going
on to college. For many reasons, the track system was abandoned, with
most students following pretty much the same general curriculum, with
some difference in the difficulty level of the courses.
I can see that there would quite a bit of difficulty with comparing
between your educational system and ours (the US) with regards to the
coding method mentioned.
I always have trouble with knowing quite what to respond on "highest
educational level attained" types of questions, even when they are
designed for the US. While the standard model here is a four year
Bachelor's degree (often ages 18-22 or so, but may occur much later, or
rarely, significantly earlier). This is followed for some by a two year
Master's degree and/or a Ph.D., or doctoral degree (4-5 years).
Most surveys will list high school graduate, some college, college
graduate, advanced degree. My husband (and I, until relatively recently)
cannot be neatly fit into this taxonomy. He has a college degree and one
year of graduate study toward a Master's degree. He is higher than the
third category, but lower than the fourth. On the taxonomy used for the
autism code, I guess that a postgraduate degree would be a master's or
doctoral degree (in the US), although I've never heard that term used
before. (How does one get a degree after graduating? I thought you
earned the degree *upon* graduation from the degree-granting program.)

That sounds very similar to the Bachelor's, Master's, Doctoral
progression here. A Bachelor's degree is a more of a general course of
study, with some sort of emphasis, such as Mathematics or Psychology. A
Master's degree is a more specialized degree, which is helpful for
finding employment in many fields. With a doctoral degree (usually a
Ph.D., but there are others), you can use the term Dr. before your name.
Just as in the Netherlands, that does not mean that the person is a
medical doctor, which would be an M.D. degree. (and some others)

It depends...do you mean "here" as in asa or "here" as in the
Netherlands? If you mean asa, it looks like that's exactly what you're
doing, since the "Speaking Dutch" thread died out. <g>
Seriously, though, I agree with you. There is no reason to completely
change the system, just to be able to use the same nomenclature.
