Just got off the phone with my son's teacher. She wanted to know if
he took his medicine this am because he would not concentrate on his
work this morning. Seems they are working on practice for the TAAS
test and he isn't interested. This is not for a grade mind you. But
according to the teacher it is VERY important because the school and
all the teachers are ranked by this test. In other words, please dose
up your kid so me and the school make more money next year. GRRRRRRR!

Obviously there is something terribly wrong with this type of
behavior. How it manifests itself to the greater community should be
a
concern to every caring person. We have the ability to do much
better, and in fact, we have to do better than this. We must simple
put an stop to drugging our innocent young children because they act
like they are suppose to, like children! At this time I really need
to
address what the UNITED NATIONS recently has published -- and here
it
is: UN-
The United Nation's International Narcotics Council Board has
warned that US doctors are over prescribing Ritalin (methylphenidate)
to treat hyperactive children. The US consumes 90 percent of the
world's Ritalin supply. In 1995, US doctors prescribed 350 million
doses of the drug to as many as 5 percent of US school kids (up 50
percent over the previous year).
The UN has asked the US to
investigate the pro-Ritalin activities of an unnamed “parents
association” financially backed by Ciba, Ritalin's manufacturer. It
is
not a pretty picture and everyone needs to take control over this
fine
mess. Even this simple post will be censored, and bullied. Luckily a
few concerned citizens have refused to bow down to the twisted Pro-
Medication Lobby that pushes DRUGS to our most innocent and
trustworthy members of our family; our children. This time we have
to

Hello! Although I mean no disrespect, I must add my opinion! I had
the
same bullshit, happen to me because of my childhood hyperactivity! I
was put on Ritalin when I was only 7 years old, subsequently it did a
lot of harm. It made me so violent, that 5 people in the household
could not handle me at all the majority of the time. Research later
showed that Ritalin can cause detrimental anger problems as well as
lead to emotion havoc, even to the point of suicidal tendencies. They
don't tell people all about Ritalin because the drug makers, profit
off this drug. Just because the drug is out there and all this from
my
personal experience. Be careful what a shrink or a school recommends,
because half the time it isn't always the explanation that they say
it
is. In fact, it may be totally different and you would never even
suspect why as a parent.

I totally understand your frustration with the “Medical-Industrial-
Complex” that treats patients as second-class citizens, and views
children as nothing but dollar signs to exploit.
Not only is this behavior totally unethical, but the effect on young
people's brains is sickening as well as disheartening. We must all
put a stop to the “Medical Gulag” that is turning an entire
generation
into a pack of what one concerned Mother recently wrote, “Mindless
Zombies.”
Thank you for your honesty and candor in discussing these vital and
meaningful topics. Your statements have not gone unnoticed.
