I would take a few degrees of your cold weather but not alot of it. ;-) I am
sweating so much the last couple of days and it isn't out of the 50's. I
never seem to stop sweating.

Me too. if you figure out how to stop this, let me know. I have had
night sweats for quite a while, but now I am sweating at the least bit
of exertion during the daytime as well. I have the heat turned way
down for the night, but that does not help. I am so tired of this. it
is embarrassing.
I only put the heat on to take the chill off in the morning when we get up
and after we take a nap in the afternoon to get the chill off. If I run the
heater too much I can't sleep at night because I am too hot with a sheet and
thin blanket on. It is so old. So I know how you feel sweetie. I hope we can
find something to fix us once and for all.
I can't beleive it is 39 outside right now and I am sweating like mad and
not doing a darn thing to make me so.

Before and during menopause I had a night sweat thing going on and still
have it once in a while, but I'm not at all hot. Just the opposite- I
sleep under a down blanket with a warm cat cuddled up to me.
Ann
I go for part of the night with just a sheet and a thin blanket. During that
time I am in a man's undershirt and undies. Then I wake up and have to put
the other two blankets on my bed, get up and put on a thermal undershirt,
and my jeans. Then I am fine till I wake up again and am sweating.

> It's just a passing thought, but have you had your thyroid levels
I did have my thyroid levels checked because I purchased a new
thermometer and the readings were always low. Odd that I should be so
warm when my temperature is below normal, however, that is the way it
is. My thyroid results were all fine.
this is just plain old menopause and maybe a result of taking lots of
T2 and other pain meds. I do not want to use HRT because my sister had
breast cancer, and I am in a very high risk group (early onset of
menarche, never having children, and having a close relative with
breast ca). I did try black cohosh, but I did not perceive any
improvement.
I know it is plain menopause for me. My sister is having a tough time with
it now too - probably rougher than me. Hard to think of the risks - I
figure the blanket on/off approach right now is best for me. Cohosh did
nothing that I could see.

Our furnace isn't working and it gets cold in here at night. Didn't
stop we from waking up drenched in sweat at 2am. 60 degrees in here
and I'm sweating. And this only a few hours after going to bed with
my feet feeling like ice cubes.
(The repair guy will be here this afternoon to fiddle around with the
stupid furnace.)
Jo
I took HRT for years because the hot flashes and night sweats were so
bad and when I started they were still saying HRT was good for you.
After many years I agreed to go off it and tried black cohosh. I tried
3 different brands. Only the first one had any effect. For me there
was definitely a difference in the different brands. Fortunately, the
one that worked was the first one I tried.

I am trying to clean the bathroom and it is around 55 back in that area. I
am sweating like mad and then feel dehydrated and then that makes me feel
like I am going to get sick, so have to keep taking breaks to try to keep me
from throwing up or in this case it would be dry heaving. My ribs are too
sore as it is now and wouldn't do good with the dry heaving.

I am sorry to hear about Millie. It is good that her husband is getting
lots of support from friends. What would we do in the world without good
friends.
It is so hard being in that "sandwich" generation where we watch the older
generation going downhill and can't always do anything for them. Can you
pick out several pictures with her and Jim in from the past and get him to
send them to her by mail one at a time - maybe with a short message with
them? I know that everyone loves getting mail and pictures do keep
conversation and memories going. This would be something Jim could do
instead of visiting. It would also be a reminder to nursing staff and
support staff of the woman behind the dementia. This is something my sister
and I have talked about many times (she is a manager right now of an
independant senior facility but is a trained and very experienced
therapeutic recreation director with all levels of senior care). The more
visual things people have around the more staff can engage and hear stories
of past, future etc. Even when cared for at home it reminds the person of
things that happened before and sometimes keeps them talking for longer. It
is great that she was over at Christmas though and ate. It is a tough thing
to go through but sometimes I think it is tougher to watch. who is her
caregiver at home or is she on her own still?
Thanks for the offer of the cold weather. I think I will pass. We are a
balmy 8 degrees today and I love it. No rain and the sun even came out.
Now if the sun will only shine for the Olympics that will be great. Things
are gearing up here. Since approve or disapprove it is here to stay it is
time to just enjoy and show off the city at its finest. To see Grouse all
lit up and the fresh snow on the mountain will be wonderful. I gather I
have tickets to curling and to hockey although the hockey tickets could be
for obscure countries but I am game for anything. The big thing to figure
out right now is my transportation with my scooter, handicapped parking and
how far away and if I can park my scooter (security reasons) somewhere and
walk up to my seat. Since the seats are my brothers they were not specified
handicap but I can handle a couple of stairs especially with my walking
sticks and Allan's arm. Have my red gloves and ready to party.
I also applied as a torch bearer for the paralympic games relay. I should
hear next week so fingers crossed! I said in my blurb how I felt I
represented the "invisible" disabled and one of the young at that. I stated
that although I may not look like a standard "buff" athlete, it took several
exercise sessions a day to keep flexibly, joints mobile and to keep range of
motion. For 16 years I have faithfully followed an exercise program and due
to this I am in as good a shape as a "prednisone loaded" person with active
RA could be and I was proud of it.
So will see what happens.
Glad you are doing better Joan. I think of you often. One day I need to
ask you some more questions about your ms and how it hits you. I still
struggle with the whole neurological event with the enbrel. Sometimes it
feels like I am missing something in the picture.
Take care,
Kelly

Its all fixed. Very nice young man came out to fix it and did a
whole maintenance thing on the furnace that hadn't been done in
years. Main problem was an igniter wire.
I don't mind it around 60 inside if I'm either busy, or can sit still
and wrap up in one of my afghans. Last night it was sweet. My feet
were cold when I got to bed, but our cat Molly curled up next to my
feet and I used her as a hot water bottle all night.
Night before last I didn't get much sleep, and yesterday involved so
much stress that my noon even my teeth hurt. But thanks to Molly
last night I slept like a baby. A good baby. Not one that wakes up
and cries every few hours.

I don't mind if it is 60 in here either that is what we set the heater at if
we do put it on. I didn't mind it last night either after I got to bed. It
was before I went to bed I was sweating so bad but I had a major blood sugar
drop then too so it was probably that.
Started to have a blood sugar drop again tonight. It seems the more I move
around the more food I need to keep my blood sugars up there. I was sweating
for a bit then but am better now.
I am glad you slept better last night. Sorry you were hurting so much
though.
