It will take me awhile so bear with me.

Here are the first ones I have to check on.

Aim, how is your father doing with the treatments for the pancreatic cancer?

Mel, how are you doing with the prostate cancer and drs appts and such?

Nann, how are you doing with the humira for the crohns? How is it doing with
the arthritis stuff too?

Leslie, How are you doing with the DVT's and circulation issues?

Gareeth, How is the knee coming along. Is the pain getting better, I hope.

Diane C, How are you doing? I hope you have healed up by now and doing
better. Keep us posted to what you find out from the biopsies and the MRI.

Donna, How are you doing lately? Are you healing up some. Is it better now
that they changed the cast.

Duckie, Has anyone heard how she is doing lately, I believe the last I heard
was that her asthma was acting up and that she had pneumonia. How is Jen
doing with the pregnancy. How is Spencers hip healing? How is he doing?

ok thats all for now. I will get to most of you eventually. ;-)

The pain is improving aruond the knee except at night. Having way more
problems with my SI joint than the knee at this point. They discharged me
from physio today because I have the 110 degree bend that is their goal.

the SI is probably acting up because of the way you have to walk till after
your knee heals. I hope it heals up quickly for you.

Good to hear your range of motion is doing so well and that you could drop
PT now.

You might have hit the nail on the head, Jo. I'll bet the PT had him
moving in ways that he would normally just avoid naturally, setting
off the SI joint too.

Took me a while, but I no longer do stuff like twisting around to
look at something without moving my feet too. Got tired of what
sometimes felt like a Rottweiler had me by the butt.

you are so sweet for remembering and asking, espceially in the midst of
moving!

Thus far, the abdominal pain is down with the Humira but I still have to be
careful about what I eat. He says it can be 2-3 months before we see the
best it will get. Esp. with crohns, it's not just stopping the inflammation,
but also healing the tissues that were inflammed. I take my 3rd dose this
Friday. My second round of labs will be done tomorrow. Hopefully my protein
levels will stay normal.

Joint-wise, there's only been a slight improvement, but I stopped taking
Arava (on RD's orders) when I started this AND real winter's been settling
in, so things might get better down the line. I saw my new RD last week and
I'll report more on that later. Now I need to go pick up my new glasses
while the recently retired D.O. is in his office to hand them out!

With any luck, the recently clingy Puddin' Cat will let me type more later.
The last couple of days, he's tended to curl up in my arms the moment I sit
down at the computer which has kept my hands occupied!

thanks for thinking of me, jo. i saw the surgeon yesterday and have a
better understanding of things. also feel better. day 10 was a
turnaround day for me as far as getting the surgery drugs out of my
system. still healing, but can tell it's a little better every day.
i'll be checked in 3 months and 3 months after that. if both times are
clear, i can (maybe) switch to every 6 months, but frankly, i've
decided i'll happily do the every 3 months in order to keep anything
major from taking hold. my attitude has changed to one of great
gratitude that this was caught in time.

no mri results yet.

Gareeth, good news on the ROM. Hope the SI joint settles down soon.
Nann, I hope the humira continues to hold you steady and that it soon
starts working on the joints as well. is puddin' cat clingy because of
the new kitty?

heh, if Puddin' is clingy because of Fresca, then he's the only one with a
clue as to her presence! We haven't seen her in 2 weeks, since an ill-fated
attempt to get her up out of the basement. We're willling to give her space
& time, but the basement is *chilly*! We wanted to get her back up in the
spare room for warmth but we didn't think out the ambush well enough. She
changed her hiding place after that and Puddin' has NOT let us know where she
is as he has in the past.

I've been moving her food and water up the stairs and as of yesterday the
bowls are moving into the kitchen. But she scopes things out before eating so
we haven't caught her yet. We're hoping to get her into the heated part of
hte house before we leave on Christmas Day.

As for Puddin', he has these clingy periods. I figure it's like us humans
having days when we need hugs! He's calmed down more today.

at least part of it must be that most of her life was spent in the shelter -
in a cage except when people where there to let her out to play. And then we
terrified her a couple off weeks ago when we tried to get her in the carrier
to get her back upstairs. We didn't plan it well enough and we've not seen
her since.

Meanwhile, my brother suspects that even though Puddin' was acting friendly
towards her (in our presence anyway) he may have been giving cat signals that
the house is *his* territory so Fresca decided to claim the basement. I'm
hoping that having to come up into the kitchen to eat now will convince her
that it's better to be in the heated part of the house!

She make take longer to 'tame' than our former feral, Molly. With
her its been one very slow step at a time.

She voluntarily spent time on my lap last week with me awake. Took
four years.

She sleeps on my feet at night, but only once she is convinced I'm
asleep.

But she's still worth it.

I waited to reply about my DVT until after I saw my vascular surgeon
yesterday. I'm confused...

Last time I saw him it was all doom and gloom and heavy restrictions. He
even agreed with me that I didn't need to bother with quitting smoking after
that diagnosis! This time he said I should have a 'decade' until the ulcers
and bad stuff starts happening and minimized the restrictions he just put on
me in Nov.

I think I need a second opinion. The two appointments and what he said at
each are miles apart.

Thanks for asking, Jo. You are so thoughtful to keep track of everybody and
handle the cards lists, etc. Holiday blessings to you and yours.

I agree a second opinion is called for - especially since things are so far
apart and you are confused about what to do. Did you tell him you thought
it was quite a difference from what he said last time?

Hi SJ - thank you for checking. Things are a bit rough right now (see
Donna's post on my behalf from yesterday) but they're getting better I
think. We had a crisis this weekend with what appeared to be sepsis.
Turned out to be an abscess in his liver, which is still not good but
it isn't sepsis! He's in the hospital til at least Wednesday. We're
hoping they'll spring him for Christmas, and that this is the last of
the major crises.

He gave us all a good scare, and yesterday was a REALLY BAD day,
thinking he was in imminent danger of death. Today is better. All I
can ask for is one good day at a time.

I'm bummed that I can't go see him as I've had a cold all week, but am
working hard at getting better so I can see him on Tuesday. He wants
me to smuggle him a cookie. :)

I think I figured out the gneral area she's hiding in downstairs now. There
are places in the rafters of the basement that don't have insulation and I
think she's up in one of those. For now, we'll keep her food up in the
kitchen and hope she'll decide to join us over time.

Poor thing though - she'll probbably be stuck in the basement while we're
gone as we don't want to be wasting too much heat. I wish she'd come
upstairs to stay in the next couple of days, but I know better by now!

Just toss an old sleeping bag or something like that down there for
her and leave her food, water, and litter. Compared to where she has
been she will think its heaven.

Last week we had a rare hard freeze. There was an old sleeping bag
that needed washed in the garage, and since it was handy I threw it
over a jade plant on the patio that needed protection. I knew if it
was that cold here, it would be dry. The next day Molly discovered
the bag and looked at it and then at me as it to say, and just where
has this been all my life?

Sorry baby, can't leave things like that out to mildew.

Thank you Leslie.

I would get a second opinion if I were you. That does sound weird that he
would be so upset and set restrictions and then turn around and say not for
a decade now. Just for your own peace of mind, it might benefit you to get
the other opinion.
