I had a PA on Thanksgiving, I had to leave the restaurant it was so bad.
I've only been on the 20mg for two weeks though. At least Forest is going to
sponsor my 'script (so I don't have to pay).

Hi, Doug,
Sorry about the PA. I'd give the Lexapro a little more time. Most ADs do
take 6 - 8 weeks for best results.
Yeah for Forest!!!
smiles,
Elise

Dear Doug,

Lexapro took six weeks for me to 'kick in', and not till I eventually upped
the dosage (under doctors instructions) to 30 mg. But once it began to work
it was brilliant. I have had to change to Remeron. My libido was effected
by Lexapro.

I would suggest Xanax will help you at the moment. It 'knocks out' panic
attacks VERY quickly and effectively.

Best wishes,

Paul, I always thought the maximum dose of lexapro was 20mg? At least now
I'll have somewhere to go if 20mg doesn't work by the end of the month. I'm
not waiting any longer than the end of the month. Thanks for the
responses/replies Jackie, Elise and Paul.

Doug, when I started on Lexapro, it took about three months before it was
fully effective. So, if you can, give it some time.

It is 40mg.

I have been on Lexapro for close to 4 years now. I started at 10mg and
that worked well for pretty much 3 years. I am now at 20mg and may
slowly go up to 25mg since 20mg seems to be "almost" the right amount
for controlling panic/anxiety/depression.

How long have you been on Lexapro?

I know when I first tried to go from 10mg to 15mg, my panic got worse.
It freaked me out because I was basically panic free for 3 years. I
personally find that Lexapro has the best side effect profile of any AD
I have tried, and I hope it works for you (and me) for many years.

Give it time.

Best,

JimD

Jim, I've been on 10mg lexapro for three months now, but I've only been
taking the 20mg for roughly 2 weeks.

My anxiety has definitely been peaking since I've discontinued doxepin and
gone to lexapro. I just hope 20mg does it.

Has the 10mg helped at all?

Hi Doug. Did you ever overlap with the Lexapro and the Doxepin? I take
both, and the combo seems to work well.

I am only able to take 5mgs of Lexapro a day without extreme anxiety or
mania. All AD meds give my nerves a working over.

I have worked solo, (without advise of pdoc) adjusting my med schedule
and dosage. I take 5 mgs of Lexapro, 25-50mgs of Doxepin, 15mgs of
Buspar, and 200mgs of Lamictal a couple of hours before bedtime. Those
hours are the best of the day. Anxiety-Free!

I wake a little shaky, sweaty, and anxious. I take 1 mg of Klonopin, and
15mgs of Buspar in the morning. That seems to carry me through most of
the day without much anxiety.

Could you try Lexapro with Doxepin at bedtime? The 2 seem to boost each
other.

Best to you. Brad

Brad, I didn't even know you could mix doxepin and lexapro, but it's too
late now, I've been completely off doxepin for at least a month. I don't
know if I really want the complexity of a med cocktail. I've tried buspar
but it never did much for me.

Buspar won't do much for you alone. However, Buspar has been know to
work very well with an SSRI like Lexapro. My PDoc and I have talked
about starting Buspar with the Lexapro I take now. I may give it a
shot to see how it works. One thing about taking Buspar and an SSRI is
that Buspar can take up to 3 weeks or so for efficacy.

I personally feel pretty good with the Lexapro, however there is still
always this small amount of anxiety left. My PDoc thinks the Buspar
may help with that. Oh, well, I guess it is worth a try.

Best to you Doug,

JimD
