I've been suffering from nerve damage and intense pain in my right leg for the past 2 years that has left me in a wheelchair. I can hardly move the leg but i can feel it so the pain is agony, but i cannot use the leg to stand or walk on, thus it is this heavy useless thing. After much thought, I believe I would have a better quality of life without the leg. I'm miserable and no amount of counseling or physical therapy/medication/etc has helped at all. I'm young and I don't want to spend my life in a wheelchair. Prosthesis seems a much better option. Issue is, Medicaid doesn't cover voluntary amputation even with a referral. They will only cover the cost if I have a major incident, but because I have no way of working in my current immobile condition, so I cannot pay for it. My depression over this has gotten so bad I've considered removing it myself, but that isnt really an option. Any advice?
