I would like to communicate with someone who has had a cardiac ablation for
atrial fib.

Prisdella, i had atrial fibrillation the first time 6 - 7 years ago, was
treated with coumadin, amiodarone, and attenol, and was fine. Have been
on the atenolol 50mg, twice a day since then and was doing well. Two
weeks ago i went back into atrial fibrillation, the atenolol is no
longer working, currently for past 2 weeks on coumadin and Toprol 200mg
XL, and for the past week also on Amiodarone 600 mg a day. So far not
working, still in fibrillation and very scared. Here is a link for
abolation, which i have been thinking about, but it is very invasive ??

Please let me know your situation either directly or through this group.
Would like to hear of the experiences of any others on atrial
fibrillation.

I had two of them about 7 years ago. The treatment was effective for
about 5 years and then the a-fib returned. I am now on amiodarone
(dangerous side effects are possible) and carvedilol, but still have
lots of afib. I'm 76 and have had a-fib for about 24 years. My
electrophysiologist wants me to see a particular famous electro. to see
about getting a third ablation.
I'm fine if I'm sitting still but on the days when I have a-fib, I'm
usually out of breath.
I have had a pacemaker for about 20 months. I think it helps but
obviously not enough.
