It's pretty much guaranteed after all those years of abuse. You made it
longer than most.

Another thing to keep in mind is that heroin is NOT a quick killer.
People think that an addict will live for 2 or 3 years at most, but
that's a myth. Heroin is a long term addiction and it is on average 10
years before the user successfully manages to quit and stay clean. I
know many addicts that have
been using for 25-30 years. It's not as dangerous as what it is made out
to be... it's not true that addicts are living on the edge every second
of every day. Yes, they've a greater chance of dying than a non-user but
that's as far as it goes.

"Yes, folks... Use Heroin! It usually doesn't kill you quickly!"

Well, unless you overdose, get capped during a drug deal, get shanked in
prison, get AIDS or Hep C, etc...

Oh... you DID get Hep C... dincha?

This is one strange topic to post on a group board about people recovering from their failed suicide attempt!

Funny, I get strong urges to hang myself, despite being in counselling, and I can't get rid of them! Maybe if I were to hang myself and someone is there to watch, and they give me until I lose consciousness for a couple of minutes, then they cut the rope, it might cure my urges?

Funny enough too, there is a really bizarre and kinky activity where you do just that, but it has sexual connotations, and it's especially popular with younger guys! It's called autoerotic asphyxia or asphyxiation. You actually do that, hang yourself, but you aren't doing it to commit suicide, rather, you are doing it for, shall I word it, a sexual relief. Having someone watch you as you hang yourself does make it somewhat safe. The person should be aware of how long you've been hanged so they know when to 'cut you down' to revive you. As you most likely know, you lose consciousness within 10 seconds, then your body will begin twitching. That will go on for a couple of minutes. It's not really safe to be left hanged for more than 2 minutes, as the person watching you has to lower your body and lay you out on the floor, then they have to loosen the noose from around your neck. That could take another minute or so, putting you dangerously close to that 4 minute mark where you will suffer irreparable neurological damage. Then again too, the noose might slip wrong, and you could break your neck. I knew someone who had that happen to him. he was doing this, and one time, the noose slipped wrong, allowing the knot to push against the back of his neck, breaking his neck at the base of the c2! The only real issue there is that the pain will be excruciating, but you'll only feel it for a couple of seconds before you pass out, and your heart will probably stop within another couple of seconds. Plus, have you ever seen the body of someone who hanged himself and managed to break his neck? Because the neck looses rigidity, the weight pulling down can cause the neck to elongate! It's actually quite a sight! My friend to did break his neck had his neck elongate some 5 inches before his body was finally cut down.
