My statement about Hurricane Katrina is only a slight exaggeration. Bush
was blamed for the hurricane, maybe not for causing it, but for failing
to personally airlift the idiots who chose not to evacuate or move to
higher ground, despite seeing the satellite photos of the hurricane
moving towards them. And the mayor of New Orleans, who could have
commandeered the fleet of fully-fueled public school buses to help
evacuate, just sat there with his thumb up his ass.
As for Ronald Reagan and AIDS, there was a popular conspiracy theory at
the time that he had the CIA invent the disease to kill blacks and
homosexuals to please his evangelical Christian base.
The idea was that everyone is equal, therefore there should be no reason
why an infectious disease would disproportionately affect certain
minority groups, unless it was a government plot. In fact, this
socialist notion of biological equality (look up Lysenkoism) was so
prevalent that HIV activists demanded that scarce prevention money be
spent on propaganda aimed at low-risk heterosexuals, in order to avoid
the impression that homosexuals were at higher risk that others.
Proof of a government conspiracy was the fact that the first documented
cases of AIDS occurred simultaneously in cities across the country. But
the CIA wasn't responsible, rather a gay Canadian flight attendant who
was trying to set a world record for anonymous sexual encounters in the
cities he laid over in.
The first documented cases of AIDS appeared in October of 1981, and since
the HIV virus has a typical two to five year incubation period, this
means the virus was spreading during the Jimmy Carter administration.
For gays to blame Ronald Reagan for a disease that is a direct
consequence of their sexual promiscuity (and a perfect example of
Darwinian evolution, in that the virus takes advantage of ruptured anal
tissues, a trait conducive to its reproduction) is offensive.
