<div>Spent a little time working on a simple (& free!) Shopify app over the holidays, and again gadget_dev proved to be invaluable for building/iterating on our concept quickly. Working on "legacy" projects really makes me wish we had Gadget sooner.</div><div></div><div></div><div>Quick update: gadget_dev is insanely good. In many years of poking away at Shopify app dev I have never felt more expressive. Amazing docs, wonderful workflows, and it already feels like a huge superpower for our business.</div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>ocp gadget download</div><div></div><div>Download File: https://t.co/LbL1sfxCfz </div><div></div><div></div><div>Happy to announce that migration to Gadget for Pretty Popup Sales is now live! Thanks gadget_dev for helping me through this.I truly believe in it to be soon the standard of Shopify apps development! #shopify #shopifydevs #buildinpublic</div><div></div><div></div><div>The etymology of the word is disputed. The word first appears as reference to an 18th-century tool in glassmaking that was developed as a spring pontil.[3] As stated in the glass dictionary published by the Corning Museum of Glass, a gadget is a "metal rod with a spring clip that grips the foot of a vessel and so avoids the use of a pontil". Gadgets were first used in the late 18th century.[4] According to the Oxford English Dictionary, there is anecdotal evidence for the use of "gadget" as a placeholder name for a technical item whose precise name one can't remember since the 1850s; with Robert Brown's 1886 book Spunyarn and Spindrift, A sailor boy's log of a voyage out and home in a China tea-clipper containing the earliest known usage in print.[5]</div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>A widely circulated story holds that the word gadget was "invented" when Gaget, Gauthier & Cie, the company behind the repoussé construction of the Statue of Liberty (1886), made a small-scale version of the monument and named it after their firm; however this contradicts the evidence that the word was already used before in nautical circles, and the fact that it did not become popular, at least in the USA, until after World War I.[5] Other sources cite a derivation from the French gâchette which has been applied to various pieces of a firing mechanism, or the French gagée, a small tool or accessory.[5]</div><div></div><div></div><div>A discussion arose at the Plymouth meeting of the Devonshire Association in 1916 when it was suggested that this word should be recorded in the list of local verbal provincialisms. Several members dissented from its inclusion on the ground that it is in common use throughout the country; and a naval officer who was present said that it has for years been a popular expression in the service for a tool or implement, the exact name of which is unknown or has for the moment been forgotten. I have also frequently heard it applied by motor-cycle friends to the collection of fitments to be seen on motor cycles. 'His handle-bars are smothered in gadgets' refers to such things as speedometers, mirrors, levers, badges, mascots, &c., attached to the steering handles. The 'jigger' or short-rest used in billiards is also often called a 'gadget'; and the name has been applied by local platelayers to the 'gauge' used to test the accuracy of their work. In fact, to borrow from present-day Army slang, 'gadget' is applied to 'any old thing.'[6]</div><div></div><div></div><div>By the second half of the twentieth century, the term "gadget" had taken on the connotations of compactness and mobility. In the 1965 essay "The Great Gizmo" (a term used interchangeably with "gadget" throughout the essay), the architectural and design critic Reyner Banham defines the item as:</div><div></div><div></div><div>In the software industry, Gadget refers to computer programs that provide services without needing an independent application to be launched for each one, but instead run in an environment that manages multiple gadgets. There are several implementations based on existing software development techniques, like JavaScript, form input, and various image formats. Proprietary formats include Google Desktop, Google Gadgets, Microsoft Gadgets, the AmigaOS Workbench and dashboard software Apple Widgets.</div><div></div><div></div><div>The X11[8] windows system 'Intrinsics'[9] also defines gadgets and their relationship to widgets (buttons, labels, etc.). The gadget was a windowless widget which was supposed to improve the performance of the application by reducing the memory load on the X server. A gadget would use the Window id of its parent widget and had no children of its own.</div><div></div><div></div><div>We, Engadget, are part of the Yahoo family of brandsThe sites and apps that we own and operate, including Yahoo and AOL, and our digital advertising service, Yahoo Advertising.Yahoo family of brands.</div><div></div><div></div><div>We just started getting this error on our gadgets on our dashboards and we are unsure as to why as nothing changed that we know off:</div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>This gadget cannot be displayed on your dashboard. This could be due to a licensing problem or an application error. If you need this gadget, contact your administrator for assistance. Otherwise, you can remove it from your dashboard.</div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>Is there anything specific that we need to look at to try and determine what the error could be?</div><div></div><div></div><div>I had a look at the "Atlassian Jira - Plugins - Gadgets Plugin" and it shows 113 of 114 modules enabled. The one module not enabled is "Text (text-gadget)" but not sure if this is an issue as the gadgets not showing are the favourite filters.</div><div></div><div></div><div>It seems to be only the "favorite filter" gadget that we have been using across all dashboards that displays this error.</div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>Other gadgets like pie chart, two dimensional filters are all working</div><div></div><div></div><div>If I create a new dashboard and add a gadget, the favorite filter gadget is not even shown as an option anymore.</div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>Many users use that gadget so not sure what changed for it not to show so suddenly.</div><div></div><div></div><div>Please, I've unlocked 3 new mods just for this small thing and still don't knoe it. I now have mekanism, thermal expansion and applied energistics 2 and I don't know how to charge my building gadget. On top of all that I also have powah and flux networks.</div><div></div><div></div><div>ISTR when the feature was discussed ages ago, the gadget was supposed to have a say in auto-connections at snap install, not just pre-installs. This makes some sense if you consider a model that has several snaps preinstalled, but additional snaps can be installed (perhaps purchasable) later to extend the device. The gadget developer may want to auto-connect some of these.</div><div></div><div></div><div> mvo has there been any progress on this topic?</div><div></div><div>Otherwise I agree with jdstrand this should be more universal, not just at first boot. It should accommodate snap to be installed in the future, and ideally also accommodate gadget snap update for already installed snaps, so rules can be updated as snaps evolve.</div><div></div><div></div><div>trying to build an image with a gadget that uses the new "connections" stanza in gadget.yaml fails the yaml validation step when creating an image. -gadget-snap/696/13i guess the validation code for gadget.yaml in...</div><div></div><div></div><div>KORG Gadget is the best all-in-one music production software and plugin collection; the intuitive user interface provides over 40 small synthesizers and drum machines called Gadgets," that you can freely combine for music production.
