I use Cubase VST 3.7 and SBLive myself (reasonably successfully) and,
given the number of similar questions/problems I've seen and
encountered myself, I seriously fancy putting together an FAQ or
something of that sort to deal with the problems related to getting
SBLive to work with Cubase and other peripherals. Dan Duskin, for all
his knowledge.. (www.studio201.com/cwu/ won't entertain our favourite
card -- don't mean to diss you here mate but there's some horrible
snobbery going on!! .. Always has been in the music business.. We
can't all afford the absolute thing of the moment. I need the likes
of Ian Bland, Lawence Payne and all the rest of my friends here to do

You may experience audio-midi sync problems, but I myself haven't gotten
around to sorting this out yet.

actually I wondered about a record level for the digital input. do you know
if the digital input really copies the incoming signal 1:1? or is there
some processing involved?

have you encountered this problem? is the effect obvious or just sometimes
strange sounding and hard to track down?

native frequency is 48kHz and it WILL NOT SYNC CORRECTLY AT ANY OTHER
FREQUENCY. This means you need to run all your audio at 48k. The problem
manifests as
a) audio recordings start at successively delayed positions (e.g. the first
recording will be 50ms late, the second 100ms late, the third 150...)
b) audio recordings will be "time stretched" over their length so even if
you sync the start of the recording to the first beat of the song, later
beats will be around 10-15ms/minute late.
It's a bit lame, but not the end of the world, after all 48kHz gives better
bandwidth that 44.1. Just make sure that when you've done your final 48kHz
mixdown you use a good prog to convert it to 44.1 (Wavelab, SoundForge,
CoolEdit Pro etc).

Well, having sample position - input isn't going to help much. You want to
synchronise to tracks that are already recorded. Sample position - output is
the correct setting. Record a 30 second blank track before you record
anything else, as this forces cubase to synchronise to audio before you have
even put anything down.
