Hey all,

I plan on getting married this September..and my bride to be has NO PROBLEM
with me putting a little Star Trek twist at our wedding/reception??? Any
ideas....I would like it to be a subtle Star Trek influence - nothing like
wearing an admirals' uniform instead of a tux? I was thinking of having the
Harpist play the Star Trek theme when I walked in, or maybe finding some
gold communicator badge shaped napkins?

Any crazy ideas....????

Please post them to this newsgroup!

Thanks...

Chris Hagler

Those sound good.

I don't know about crazy, but how about on a clear, starry (and warm, of
course) night outdoors? Or at least by a big picture window?

I guess banging a big gong or a fight to the death with the bride's old
boyfriend would be a bit over the top.

I guess a Beetazoid(sp) wedding would be a bit over the top. . .

I like your idea of having the band play the theme music.

Here's an idea have the band play only songs from Star Trek. There are
enough of them out there now. Or IF ya could afford it see if you can hire
James "Vic Fontaine" Darren to come and sing at your wedding.

One idea would be to have a "Neelix" character prepare some real exotic food
stuffs and then try to explain what planet they are from. The only problem
would be trying to find the clothes to match!

If you are looking for subtle, a insignia tie pin for you and a Bajoran
earing for her. I must say I like the idea of gongs at dinner like in
"Haven"

Granted, it's not cheap but I believe the Star Trek: Experience at the Las
Vegas Hilton in Nevada still offers a "wedding package" where you are actually
married on their recreation of the Enterprise - D bridge, complete with
uniformed attendants. Yeah, it's a bit over the top but I thought I'd mention
it anyway.

it also depends on how you want to get married. If you just want a celebrant, you
call the celebrant association and see if they know of a celebrant who might be
willing to dess up. that's what we did. maybe contact an upcoming convention
comittee and ask to do it during the convention.

who had a star trek wedding back in 96 in star trek costume, heck we even made the

How about playing the orchestral theme from "The Inner Light"?
Good music!

no, no, a clothing optional would be a Beta-Zed wedding. of
course Bride & Groom *must* nude.
a Ferengi wedding would be nude women [unless they be rebels],
very fancy dressed men, and the pay at the door charge to get in....
a Klingon wedding - the bride & groom get dressed up, but
beaten up/gang jumped after the wedding vows by the groomsmen, because
they had to go thru pre-wedding torture/purification rituals.
a Vulcan wedding - the protest & male death duel first, then a
very formal ritualistic event.
Bajoran wedding - temple prayers followed by a vedic/Emmissary
simple vows exchange.
Breen wedding - inside an ice house, or outside in the snow!
Cardassian wedding - unknown, but i imagine it goes along a
military wedding lines, or plain civil judge ceremony.
Bolian weddings - everyone talks FOREVER...long speeches and
longer toasts. [i imagine. verbose species]
StarFleet wedding - semi military formal, as shown on TOS/TNG.
Romulan - completely unknown?
Borg - assimilated, not wed. maybe mechanically bred, not
loved.
